Racism in Scripture! Why do people deny it?

The Bible promotes racist ideas/sentiments/views in places?

Even if it is Hell fire, Cutting off hands and feet, pouring boiling water on people, burning, crucifying, is completely psychopathic, cruel, hateful, sadistic, disgusting, sick, foul, and wrong!

It's in the Quran. I've read it multiple times. And the Quran is full of bigotry, always judging and condemning polytheists, Christians, Jews, and those who join associates with God!

It is cruel, intolerant, mean, and hateful!

I love good Muslims. Most are humble, loveable people. :). I have known many of them. But I take a stand against hate speech. And it is in the Quran!

Seriously, maybe you need to "reread" it and see what the context is :) those things you mentioned are IN hellfire...and Allah judges (not man) the way he wants for those who disbelieve in him.
There is a reason why Allah condemns polytheists :) It's that they are the ones that take other gods BESIDE HIM. It is his right...even in the scriptures from the past Allah did the same :) . --Simple--God is ONE. (not many)

I appreciate your noble response.

Pick my example where Jesus refers to his ethnicity as human beings (children) and foreigners as "dogs" perhaps?? :)

Hi,

I am pleased to clarify my reasons for not believing that Jesus statement is racist.

We have to start with properly translating Matt 15:26
The Greek term used is "kynariois", it literally means "little dog. as opposed to dogs."

So Jesus said:"It is not right to take the bread of the children and throw it to little dogs".
this liquely is a reference to a pet.

The reference to "little dogs" was to all non believers, not exclusively to her or to her Canaanites roots but to all gentiles.
In essence Jesus made clear to her that his designated mission —for now— is only to preach to Israelites (the reasons for this is a subject of it's own, and needs no clarification to discuss Matthew 15:26).
An example for our time is a follower of Islam calling unbelievers "infidels", which is (normally) a derogative religious term, but not a "racial" slur.

Considering the outcome -healing her daughter- Christ's apparent intent, was to test the woman's commitment to her request.
Had Jesus compared her to a "dog" these word would have been very difficult and hurtful to her. Her response however shows that she did not take offense and understood Jesus words as an encouragement to express further her faith in him.

There is no question however that the Bible does refer to some as "dogs", it is however always combined with their attitude not their race.
some examples:
Rev 22:15 "Outside are the dogs and those who practice spiritism ...fornicators, murderers, liar, idolaters..."
Mat 7:6 "Do not give what is holy to dogs, neither throw your pearls before swine...(they) will turn around and rip you open"
Phil 3:2 "look out for the dogs...workers of injury

Cheers.

You dont know the Bible. He didn't say bread represents his body. He said it is his body.
Hi Spiderman. Figurative and literary language exists in the Bible to help demonstrate a point. Metaphors are also sometimes used. Of course, bread has a different composition to the human body. And Yahshua couldn't have meant that we are to eat his physical body and drink his blood as this would be cannibalism which is prohibited in the Biblical Laws. Furthermore, it would be impossible to eat his flesh and drink his blood as he was resurrected after 3 days and 3 nights of being in the tomb. His body isn't on this earth and even if it somehow were, it would have decomposed long ago. He was talking spiritually. Just like when he said beware of the leaven of the Scribes and Pharisees, he wasn't referring to physical leaven in Mark 8, but from the spiritual teachings of these people.

1 Corinthians 10:16 says: "Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Yahshua? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Yahshua?" Here, the reference is to the Passover observance. Again, the cup of juice refers to the blood of Yahshua, and the unleavened bread His body.

Yahshua indeed was the bread of life. Now, to the ordinary person on the streets, calling Yahshua the Bread of Life means nothing. It doesn't even make sense: - but why do people eat? Why did Yahweh create the activity of eating in human kind? It is to receive strength. To perpetuate our life. Without Yahshua, the Bread of Life, there would be no life, I hope you understand that. We would be destined to starve to death. People who reject Yahshua are starving to death. They're dying in their sins. Only Yahshua can take away all sin, and can act as the intermediary between us and Yahweh so our prayers can be heard and we can have a relationship with Yahweh. By eating of Yahshua, or taking on his character, the commandments, His teachings and Spirit, we also can have eternal life. The qualities in this special bread are so that it will provide us with the nourishment we need for eternal life.
