HAHAHA!!!!!! Giant Eagle is a chain of grocery stores. They aren't all over the U.S. though, actually, I don't know of many outside of northeastern us. And you know, the whole, no shirt no shoes no service deal. They would throw me out.

My feet are really calloused too. And I used to do the same thing with black top, or asphault pavement. Then I also started fire walking, and doing martial arts on broken glass and stuff like that.

I'm testing for my yellow belt (two stripe) next week.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! What martial art do you practice, and how long have you been practicing? And I must say, don't stop. I know many, many people who stopped at like green belt and 10 years goes by and they regret it sooooo much!!!

I myself have huge, ugly callouses on my feet also. I love them :)

We don't have Giant Eagle...we have UKROPS!

I want to live in Charleston when I grow up :)

Okay, I think you all might get a kick out of this story...

I was on my way to the bus stop a few months ago. I was running really late (overslept again) On my way there, however, my neighbor's cat was pawing at something and I went over to see what it was. It was a vole. Now, since my neighbor's cat really has no need to be eating small animals (he's well-fed!) I decided to save the vole...but I was late for the bus. So I stopped, grabbed the vole, stuck him (or her) in my pocket and ran. The whole bus ride I was praying that the little think didn't crawl out of my pocket and scare the teenage girls half to death. Thankfully, it didn't, so when we got to school, I released my vole in a nice, squishy, pleasantly bug-infested area. I hope he or she is doing well *grin*

Martial arts reminded me of Street Fighter.

My favorite SF character is without a doubt Ken :).

I vastly preferred (and still prefer) SF by a long shot, but on MK my favorite was Shang Tsung...I got everything with him :p.

I always wanted to see Ryu and Liu Kang fight (of course...I'd root for Ryu).

Oh I preferred Ryu. Did you ever catch whet he says when he does the spinny kick?

I will now show my nerdiness :D.

The hurricane kick (spinning kick): tatsumaki sempukyaku
fireball: hadoken
dragon punch: shoryuken

Those were what he hollered in all his special moves, but not his supers.

EDIT:

I was biased in my choices. My name is Kenneth, so naturally, I preferred the char named after me :p.

I've asked tons of people and no-one has ever known. It would impress me if you could translate. :)

I know practically everything everyone says in that game, but I can't translate...

It almost got me into the martial arts, but I turned away from it, probably a wise decision for me.

why do you think it was a wise decision No's?

This is going to be hard to explain *scratches head*. I realize that martial arts isn't about violence.

That said, you have to understand that I come from an extremely violent background. I grew up and was growing like my Father. Prior to becoming a Christian, I even broke my sister's arm simply as an "experiment," and enjoyed every second of it. On another, I grabbed her and slammed her head repeatedly into the wall (and made a dent in it). I did things like that repeatedly, and I did so not because I lost my temper, but because I enjoyed it (I learned that was an acceptable thing, after all).

When I became a Christian, I swung heavily to the pacifist side and got a handle on that. I, thus, have a now long-buried monster within. I cannot imagine it doing me any good with that kind of background. I haven't raised a hand at anyone in ten years, and I have consistently refused to, which has changed me. Had I decided to enter the martial arts, I don't think I could say that. I'm happy now, that if I raise my voice at someone I feel bad. I think I've been deprogrammed. I don't think that martial arts could have done that.

I hope that makes sense.

By far the greatest martial arts game of all time... Tenchu!!!!
:jam: I rented Wrath of Heaven the other day... I forgot how hard Tenchu was (or maybe I just suck at playing it :D)

It does make sense No's. And sadly, its a big misunderstanding of martial arts. It does make you more passive. Its amazing how many people think that martial arts makes people more aggressive, or violent. It does the exact opposite, but it also teaches, respect, discipline, confidence, and is great exercise. I am sad you thought that way, but I am glad you got over your violent side somehow.

I'm glad you understand. Someday I might think about it again, but for now, being a little weakling is good enough for me :D.

EDIT:

Discipline and self-control woudln't have helped me much. I rarely lost control. That's the saddest part :(.
