Religion and Classism

No, it has more to do with the opinion a woman is supposed to be submissive, along with very dated ideas of male sexuality. You'll likely find even many women in the circles who teach such things would agree.

Fair point, I am wary of using nuance when someone makes a statement as egregious as a woman cannot withdraw consent to sex at any point during sex, but your point is well made. I let my repugnance of the remark get the better of me, and resorted to lazy reasoning.

Mea maxima culpa ...

Ah I don't see how. If the person says stop and withdraws consent then the person they are with can stop having sex with them. Why wouldn't they be able to stop having sex?

It's only rape if the person continues once the consent is withdrawn

with half a seconds notice???

In the case of a pregnancy it not like jr has a lot of options

Just remember you are a Christian.
I am a Satanist and for sex consent is everything. If consent is withdrawn and the other party proceeds, that person is a rapist.

And how much notice do they get?

In many typical business contacts 30 days notice is required to exit a standing agreement. Its not that one cant exit or withdraw consent, but some measure of reality needs to be in place.

Well, that is a little disturbing. It can make one a rapist if one lacks concern for one's partner. Sex is more than the moment of climax, you know.

Yes I'm aware. If one wishes to withdraw consent their is typically a bit of a process. I can exit a rental agreement, business contact etc., but not on zero notice.

I have never found it to be a bit of a process. Saying "whoa", "stop", "wait a minute", or "ow" are enough to get me to pause and check in with my partner. You know, communication.
I think that the BSDM community tends to be far more responsible about sex than the vanilla folks. They put an emphasis on constant communication, and have safety words to let their partner know if there is a problem. By convention yellow is "pause" or "slow down" or "reduce intensity" depending on the situation; and red is simply "stop". Consent can be put on hold or withdrawn by a word.

You said that in theory a woman can withdraw consent, but not practically.
In theory maybe, but practically no.
I would suggest a thoughtful re-examination of that position.

Well as I've said many times. Some notice helps. the half a second things does not work in the real world.

I don't know where you pulled "half a second" out of, but why not? Half a second is well within the reaction time of most people. A full second certainly is. Five seconds is a gracious plenty. I am no athlete with hair trigger reflexes, but if my partner says "Ow" during sex, I freeze and check in with them. Again, I would suggest a thoughtful re-examination of your position.

If there is a hint of discomfort things should stop to check on your partner's wellbeing. If there is a stop/no/quit said, then immediately things are to stop.

I do believe the BDSM sets the bar for others to learn from when it comes to consent, safety and making sure everyone is ok and comfortable.

How long are you claiming you'd need, before you could stop having non-consensual sex with someone who had expressed in any way that they had withdrawn consent.

Again these are deeply worrying claims you're making.

I'm sure how they are setting the bar, but lets make sure I'm clear on the basics.
Before to take an act that impacts another you must ask for consent. And they can change their mind any time they want?

For all the people who say “if you can’t afford to have a kid don’t have sex”…Do you think sex should be a class privilege??
To have a Child that you cannot look after is a terrible thing to do.
I would not buy a pet if I couldn’t comfortably care for it so why would I subject a precious child to a life of suffering.

Really you can alter your thoughts and actions reliability on .5 seconds notice?

Yes. The most often occurrence being when I'm driving to avert a wreck due to the carelessness of pedestrians and other motorists.

Yes to both. The BDSM community is extremely strict when it comes to consent. When someone says stop you absolutely must stop. It should be like that with everyone.

Why is this even a point of contention? Why are you negotiating for time? Why are you comparing interpersonal awareness between two people intimately entangled to giving 30 days notice to a lease. This is all very suss.
