But what you don't realise is that this belief is founded very heavily on the very best of logic.

1. RTP that homosexuality is a sin.
2. The Bible says so, ergo, it must be a sin.
3. Quad erat demonstrandum.

How can this not make sense to you?

I don't believe in the Bible, neither do a lot of the people on RF... therefore, using it in a debate has no effect on me or them... Plus, you're using circular logic, which doesn't help your case either.

Okay, you're obviously a bit slow. Let me re-explain.

1. RTP that homosexuality is a sin.
2. If you don't believe being gay is a sin, you will burn in Hell for eternity. This suggests it must be a sin.
3. If you are homosexual, you will burn in Hell.
4. It gives me a sense of self importance to say that homosexuality is a sin.
5. If you don't believe homosexuality is a sin, then what's next? Pedophilia? Beastiality?
6. The Bible says homosexuality is a sin.
7. Therefore, if you don't believe being gay is a sin, you will burn in Hell for eternity for being a heretic.
8. Thus, homosexuality is a sin.
9. Quad Erat Demonstrandum.

Is that easier to understand?

Perhaps you're not getting it, I don't believe in the Bible, so why should I listen to it? And you're still using circular logic, which is nowhere close to "the very best of logic". Btw, calling me slow is not helpful to your case either.

Perhaps you don't understand that you will burn in Hell.

Friends, there is something that I must share with you all! I have seen the fires of Hell with my own eyes. Within them lay a billion chained men all screaming in agony. Homosexuals, murderers, rapists, pedophiles, atheists - all screaming their regret for their sins. Do not let yourself be one of them! Repent before it is too late! I have felt the overwhelming power, joy and hope of the Holy Spirit! Surrender yourself to God and all shall be forgiven, lest you burn in the depths of eternal pain for eternity, forever!

There was once a time when I loved Matt Damon.

If you're going for parody, you need to go further. If you're not...?

I think what many people here are failing to understand is that homosexuality is a sin.

What is a sin? Is being straight a sin? Sexuality a sin? our own existence a sin? Why did you say that? "Because the Bible tells it so" (title of a real good documentary movie) Did you know that THE BIBLE DIDN#T TELL that homosexualityy is a sin. Nether the OT nor the NT said it!
Google to the broschure "What the Bible say's and doesn't say - about Homosexuality, written by Reverend Mel White. There you can find some interesting answers.

Hmm.
So how would YOU define "abomination"?
"The Collaborative International Dictionary of English v.0.48"
Abomination
1. The feeling of extreme disgust and hatred; abhorrence;
detestation; loathing; as, he holds tobacco in
abomination.
[1913 Webster]

2. That which is abominable; anything hateful, wicked, or
shamefully vile; an object or state that excites disgust
and hatred; a hateful or shameful vice; pollution.
[1913 Webster]

3. A cause of pollution or wickedness.
[1913 Webster]

"WordNet (r) 2.0"
abomination
n 1: a person who is loathsome or disgusting
2: hate coupled with disgust [syn: abhorrence, detestation,
execration, loathing, odium]
3: an action that is vicious or vile; an action that arouses
disgust or abhorence; "his treatment of the children is an
abomination"

Hmm.
So how would YOU define "abomination"?

This way for example:

In Hebrew, “abominations” (TO’EBAH) are behaviors that people in a certain time and place consider tasteless or offensive. To the Jews an abomination was not a law, not something evil like rape or murder forbidden by the Ten Commandments. It was a common behavior by non-Jews that Jews thought was displeasing to God.
Jesus and Paul both said the holiness code in Leviticus does not pertain to Christian believers. Nevertheless, there are still people who pull the two verses about men sleeping together from this ancient holiness code to say that the Bible seems to condemn homosexuality.
But wait, before we go any further, let’s ask: What does this text say about God? Even if the old holiness codes no longer apply to us as Christians, it’s important to remember that in every age, people of faith are responsible for setting moral and ethical standards that honor God. But we people of faith must be very careful
not to allow our own prejudices to determine what those standards should be.

Well, since the verse in question is supposed to be gods own words, I wonder how he (god) defines abomination?
