Don't engage in political discussions/debates if you don't actually understand anything about it.

God forbid the fascists stay in power!!

I know right life is so terrible under this fascist regime! Food is so sparse everyone is overweight. Unemployment lowest it's been in forever. You can snort a line off a hookers butt, while shooting a fully automatic weapon while cruising on a raptor free as can be! Effin fascist man!

WWMRD?
You would think that even those that dislike the president would be happy that the U.S. is doing very well and I find it shameful that they do not care about the great advancements for women and minorities. I guess the problem may lie in the fact that some need "victims" to pretend to save, with an increase in gainful employment which results in self reliance I guess it is counterproductive to their aims and goals.

Most of the trends being discussed here have a LOT of inertia. In other words, they don't change quickly. It's almost always a mistake to attribute recent economic trends with a current president. That said, ALL politicians take credit for good news that happens to fall in their lap.

Some conveniently forget that the Trump tax-cuts bloat the budget at the tune of roughly $1 trillion in one year, and it does so at a time when it's not needed. Where are the real conservatives who have long championed having a balanced budget? Must be asleep. :expressionless:
But Metis, this is the beauty of the budget! Living conservatives won't have to pay for the largesse they've granted themselves...they get to fob repayment of the national credit card off onto others, many of whom aren't even old enough to vote (remember "No taxation with representation?")

I admit, I'm quite surprised that this is now a conservative principle, but who can argue with something that actually got passed into law by nominally conservative government. So apparently the real change in conservative policy is much, much deeper than I ever thought possible.

Actually, for an observer from outside of the United States (I'm Canadian) that is essentially correct!

For viewers from Canada, Britain, Nordic nations, many European countries, politicians in the US basically all (possible exception of Bernie Sanders and a few other new Democrat contenders) basically all fit within the upper right quadrant of the political spectrum. What you need to do, to really understand American politicians, is to assume that the upper right quadrant is the whole spectrum...then when you remap it that way, you can pretend that some of those that Canada considers to be on the Authoritarian Right might actually seem to other Americans as being more Libertarian Left. But they mostly ain't.

For the record, I've always been about a third of the way to the left (I like capitalism, but want some rules, and want them enforced) and about a third of the way down to "libertarian," which means that I prefer people to be able to make, and live with, their own life choices, and not be bound by arcane notions like personal choices should be curtailed in favour of "fitting in" the whatever the defined culture is supposed to be.
