We aren't saying that there won't be reasons and motives for such a shooting. What's wrong with stating an opinion? I said I think the gunman is a disgruntled veteran based on recent congressional bills. Why is that a problem for you?
In case you haven't noticed, the political scene is very hyperbolic and dangerous right now. Put 2 and 2 together.
I'm entitled to my opinion, there are no rules against that in this thread. I'm not religious, so don't expect my comment on the thread to be 'prayers to the families.' Which would be a worthless opinion to begin with.
We are saying that immediately blaming the victims is distasteful. We should take time to express concern for the victims, and to unhesitatingly condemn the shooter's actions.
Essentially, right now, you are like the person who blames the girl for being raped because of what she was wearing or how much she had to drink. It's gross, and it takes blame from where it actually falls: on the disgusting actions of the person who committed the assault.
The term "liberal terrorism" is already being bandied about in conjunction with this attack. As liberals, we need to make it clear that we do not support such actions, that we find them abhorrent, and that we unequivocally reject this method to bring about political change.
By suggesting that this attack is any way justified by the political actions of the victims is to play into the narrative that liberals believe such an action is acceptable.
And, no, you need not be religious to show a bit of human decency in wishing the victims a speedy recovery.
