I will only say one thing here..... that is not how democracy works and the whole scinario you came up with there is unconstitutional, and would be the end of democracy.... and the fact you don't see that is truly scary

Is this two-party corporate-funded system a democracy?

Dictatorships: Number of options: 1
Two-party system: Number of options: 2

I think that "we the people" can help ourselves much more by voting for any candidate besides those of the two party system.

Every election we should have at least 1/2 dozen candidates and we select based on qualifications.

Every election should be a win for all Americans instead of seen as a loss for 1/2 the country.

It's actually doing well.
Agreed. Even discounting COVID, the Insurrectionist drove up the debt with his reckless spending sprees more than double what Biden has. Employment rates are better now than at the best of tRump’s times, including employment rates among black Americans. The average salary has not only kept pace with, but has surpassed inflation. The stock market is higher. And Biden didn’t give millionaires and billionaires a big ol’ tax break to be paid for by working Americans and our kids, like tRump did.:cool::D

You need to look outside the bubble. The rate of illegal immigrants is WAY WAY WAY down since Biden cracked down after TRUMP and the REPUBLICANS TORPEDOED REAL BORDER SECURITY FOR POLITICAL REASONS Border Patrol agents recorded the fewest monthly migrant apprehensions since 2021 on southern border
Since Biden took office illegal immigration has increased. The rate of illegal immigrants is not "WAY WAY WAY down". There was a minor dip and then it exploded upwards, as found by Congress.

"Today, the House Committee on Homeland Security released its latest “Startling Stats” factsheet outlining U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) September and Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 border encounter data. In the final month of FY2023, CBP recorded 269,735 encounters at the Southwest border, marking another unprecedented milestone under Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and President Joe Biden’s open-borders policies. This monthly number also represents an 86% increase from June 2023, when the Biden administration celebrated a short-lived drop in illegal crossings following the end of Title 42. "

FACTSHEET: Final FY23 Numbers Show Worst Year at America’s Borders—Ever – Committee on Homeland Security

According to the House Committee on Homeland Security the U.S. is on track to reach over 10 million illegal immigrants encounters this fiscal year.

SCOTUS made the POTUS a king who does not face the law for certain crimes. President Biden today declared a state of national emergency over threats to democracy and outlawed the Republican party, arrested two SCOTUS members and several from Congress. His speech indicated it was done because of his oath to defend the Constitution and therefore can't be charged with a crime.

The right is attacking voting rights in every way possible. They are also creating a big government bureaucracy to monitor women who get pregnant to make sure they don't cross state lines for an abortion. They also want to outlawethe abortion drug. They are declaring that all men are not created equal and that non parents are second class citizens.

I could go on for pages.
The biggest single threat to Democracy was how a duly nominated Presidential candidate; Biden, was ousted by an unelected Cabal, who the installed; coronated, their own puppet candidate, all without any Democratic vote. They even used the injustice Department to black mail Biden going after his son, Hunter, with evidence they had withheld and hidden until then; Rumanian Businessman who paid Hunter $3 million and this could be traced to Joe. This is why Joe did not fight back.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. Trump is suing the Government for the law fare FBI raid on Mar A Lago and the use of an unauthorized prosecutor to rigged the case they brought against Trump in Florida.

We can now add Propaganda to cover their crimes; Fake News Kamala the Puppet Tour. Democracy does not benefit by any of these actions.

And as I've noted over and over again, it's not just economics - it's right's desire for an autocracy, ignoring the horrible deficits, giving tyrants what they want, undermining the founder's ideals, SCOTUS making the POTUS almost a king and so forth.
Biden is the first beneficiary of this ruling, which means Biden may not be charged for his crimes of law fare or all the death caused by illegal immigration that he allowed, including fentanyl deaths since 2020. Or even future terrorist acts by those who entered on his watch.

Instead let's talk about how the economy is doing and what each candidate proposes to do about it.
Sure. What is Trump's plan? Thus far he's talked about tariffs on imports, but economists have concluded this will cause more inflation of prices, and won't help create more US manufacturing.

On the other hand Biden/Harris have enacted policies that have lowered the global inflation rate in the USA well below that of other nations. Good job, and Harris deserves to continue the work.
Then we should discuss the tsunami of illegal immigrants flooding into the country and each candidate's record on that.
Yeah, let's talk about why Trump sabotaged a bipartisan bill that would have allowed the Biden administration to limit the number of migrants. As it is the government has to follow existing laws, just as trump had to do when he was president. He wasn't able to close the border until the pandemic, remember? There were still migrants coming in to the USA when Trump was president, despite his efforts to violate human rights by caging migrants and separating children from their parents.
Things that will make a difference, that you want to avoid.
Great, Trump has a terrible track record, along with the sabotage by MAGAs in general. The voters will understand this and vote blue.

LOL!!!!
That must be why Harris runs from discussing it.

You know, maybe there is a way to make this a non-issue for everyone. Obviously, we all know that lots of people want to come here, for whatever reason. If they decided to make policies to open the border even more in the usa, then a way to even it out, would be to have an agreement with countries that people are migrating out of: that the porosity of the border has to be the same on either side, if we are to open it ours a lot more. I think that once the chemistry of this causes the buying power of money to even out on all sides, there probably won't be much incentive for people to migrate to and fro

Because that seems to be what this is about. People come here to try and get a better ratio between the work they do / hours they put in, and their buying power.

Ideally though, all the peoples of the earth should probably stop reproducing for a while. Then everyone could afford low cost lakefront property anywhere on the world, etc., without have to work that hard, so long as there wasn't other kinds of social disruption

I've had to learn (the hard way a few times) that, regardless of what may be written on a piece of paper, your life mainly hinges on the opinions and interpretations of those who hold stewardship over the apparatus of the state. Mostly judges and lawyers, because they're the only ones with any standing in society to tell us what the Constitution actually says. What the average Joe has to say about it is dismissed, as the average Joe is not a lawyer and can't possibly understand the legal complexities.
If Kamala is going to be president, fine, but she does continue this tradition doesn't she, of us being led by lawyers. I think maybe I'd rather be led by an artist for a change, or a philosophy major. I also find something about her a little unnerving: she was a prosecutor, but she laughs a lot. It seems very american to at times have an optimistic attitude regardless of your occupation, but it is an idiosyncratic dichotomy. Not everyone does this, but it seems like many do

I suppose it depends on if you think a serious demeanor should always accompany a serious position. I interrupted my boss last night with a paperwork thing, when he was eating. He gave out a serious and blunt 'what?,' but I didn't want to make the decision myself at the time. But all of us in that workplace just have a lower type of position in life, than would a head lawyer. You'd think that seriousness would only increase, as the career of the individual becomes more important

Also another thing that influences us all is our culture. It's possible that the usa might have a long tradition of daytime television shows, of varying kinds, where a judge or judge-like character would preside over those (the larger public) who were presented as incompetent. One wonders if other countries have that

Just as with Biden, I see Harris as the lesser of two evils. Just about anyone would be the lesser of two evils compared to Trump, so that's not saying much.

I think the culture, to include the political culture, seems very legalistic to me. Partisan debates often come across like mob lawyers trying to get their clients exonerated. A lot of biased rhetoric, cagey presentations of the facts, and knee-jerk handwaving away of any evidence which is inconvenient or too difficult to address. And a lot of melodrama and sanctimony. Lawyers love melodrama and sanctimony. So do journalists and editors, apparently.

That ignored what happened since then - and you ignored the updated numbers I provided

One of the features of MAGA is telling people what they can and can't eat to please a very wealthy group And they are even saying "the quiet part out loud" because they don't think anyone can stop them. The American people will stop them sooner or later.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the legislation making the sale of cultivated meat illegal in Florida on May 1, and the bill came into effect on July 1. Alabama passed a similar bill banning cultivated meat that will come into effect from October 1.
...
Florida Agricultural Commissioner Wilton Simpson praised the bill banning cultivated meat for protecting the state’s agricultural industry against new ways of making meat. “We must protect our incredible farmers and the integrity of American agriculture. Lab-grown meat is a disgraceful attempt to undermine our proud traditions and prosperity, and is in direct opposition to authentic agriculture,” he said when the bill was signed.

Well look at that, there are leftist journalists trying to spread propaganda to cover for the Democrats. But the people aren't buying it. They experienced the inflation that peaked over 9% and prices for groceries that have gone up 20% under Biden/Harris when they go to buy groceries. They know that the supposed high employment numbers mask that most of the "new jobs" are part-time and going to immigrants. And the rising debt. The spin isn't working.

If you are getting that from Fox:

Fox News totally ignored new report showing violent crime is down — while running more than 4.5 hours of violent crime coverage

And the rising debt.
I agree it's a problem that needs serious attention. The Republican platform would as usual make things worse by just cutting taxes. Are you willing to endorse this proposal that would work from the Chase CEO

Jamie Dimon wants to hit millionaires with the ‘Buffett Rule’ to tackle national debt

Wall Street veteran Dimon has a dual-prong proposal to bring the deficit back into balance: Focus on growing the economy to bring the all-important debt-to-GDP ratio back into line and rebalance the tax system for middle-income families.

What is the 'Buffett Rule'?

The Buffett Rule states that no household earning more than $1 million annually should pay a smaller share of its income than middle-class families.

The September report revealed America's 400 wealthiest families actually paid 8.2% of their income in taxes, owing in large part to loopholes in capital gains taxes.
