RF is filled with wonderful people who like to share their knowledge in friendly, yet sometimes heated, discussions. The mods seem to be diligent about their jobs. I have learnt a lot from RF! 10/10 would recommend
I have a few minor points of critique like the secrecy of moderation and some of the broken features that won't get fixed like the search function but overall it's still a 9 out of 10.

@Seeker of White Light

People assume the question whether gods exist or are knowable has been settled in the positive and are surprised that that isn't a common thing.
RF has a special corner for those people which are the DIRs.
In the open forums, expect to meet people of all world views.
Why should religious people be put in a cage (dir) when it is a religious forum we are in? Isn't this a forum for religious people to share and have a good time together?

Who would thonk atheists govern a religious forum :D it is so fun and I love this thread

I don't see DIRs as boxes people are put in. They are a place where people meet who have agreed upon a few assumptions and where those who don't are filtered out. (And btw, there's also an atheism DIR as well as political DIRs.)
It's like places where adults meet without being interrupted by the children.

To disagree is very common and even welcoming, but when words are used to harm or belittle then it is not good anymore.
I love discussion but not when it comes to "my view is better than your view"

I think you're wrong that anyone is trying to harm or belittle you. That's of course just my opinion. I personally wouldn't care if someone was doing it to me.

Imagine having such a fragile belief system or worldview that it begins to fall apart immediately upon stepping out of the confines of an echo chamber.

Imagine having such a paucity of belief or opinion that you spend hours online attacking the belief systems of others, while offering absolutely nothing of your own.

That comment isn’t aimed at you, btw; it describes the small but vocal subset of highly trained ‘attack atheists’ who frequent this forum.

I find it strange that so many of the names I see complaining that there are too many political topics are often names I see talking in those very same threads. Not all, but some. Why engage with topics that don't interest you?

Anyway.

My review: I think the forum does an excellent job allowing anyone and everyone to share their opinions, no matter how disagreeable, as long as they are being civil. I like lurking and reading all the debates. It's genuinely fun to see people debate whether my existence as a gay person is moral, for instance. I might be a masochist

I don't have a problem with people's beliefs, unless they act upon them in ways that harm others. Also, critiquing and scrutinizing other people's assertions isn't the same as attacking them.

Sure. Attacks launched with an attitude of unrelenting belligerence, for no purpose other than to belittle the beliefs of others, are easily identified, and are distinct from sincere challenges undertaken in good faith.

In any case, the anger and rage of atheist crusaders, can doubtless be attributed to those individuals having had religious views forced on them at some point. So in that sense, those of a religious persuasion should perhaps consider putting their own house in order first.

I think most theists in RF actually trying to defend their belief, but yes it do happen there will be attacks back at atheists, i have done them myself too.

Let me try to explain it. Instead of dividing the world into theists and atheists, you will get a different result if you divide along the line of moral absolutism and moral relativism.
