Between Science and God which one could be the greater benefit to humankind ? :)
Voted science because I dont believe in God. If God exists then I would have to think more about it.

EDIT:

I dont know if its splitting hairs, but I am thinking of God and not belief in God or religion.

I voted God. I would rather be spiritually balanced and happy than materially advanced.
Technology and science isnt the same thing, though. Science at its core isnt about newer fancier material things, its about understanding the wonders of the universe. Some people may use it to create new fancy things, though.

And as eugenics shows, it can be used for horrible ends. And the people who do science are not objective.

Because God has never been used to horrible ends? Science is objective, people can just do it incorrectly. Subjective beliefs do not change scientific discovery.

We've no evidence that God exists.
But we've ample proof that science is cool.
Its not the question about existance, its the question about which could be more benifitial to humankind.

BTW, the moon on which that astronaut is dancing over there, is created by God, and there many such countless moons and stars created by God which are still under descoveries. :)

They have different purposes. Science has many different areas of study and Religions have many different purposes as well. Science can be very helpful in various areas of our physical world. Religion can be very helpful in the spiritual side of things. Scientific discoveries can help make the world a better place with certain items like medical studies and make our lives longer and healthier. Religion can give people peace of mind and give their quality of life a boost. I could go on and on.
I say I can't really can't answer the question. :)
Dear,
Its the thread "Science vs God", rather than "Science vs Religion". :)

You do understand that for an atheist you are pretty much saying "what do you think is more benefical cor man kind? science or the content of this mystery bag? "

Science objectively improves our lives, the idea of God does not work objectively because God concepts differ from person to person. Science does not.
Yes, the idea of God concept differ from person to person. But why people go to other people to get ideas about God ? why don't they ask God directly ? The idea of God is just ONE if people would have asked God directly.

Thus, Its not God's fault if people are going to another people to get ideas about "Him". :)

A supernatural, all-powerful entity... going against a method by which the world can be understood...

So it's sort of like Godzilla vs. mathematics.
Yes, you sounds to be an intelligent guy, becuase you think there's no need to compare science and God, because God is not a such small thing like Godzilla to compare with science. :)

In an atheist mind, this "something" could very well be less air than that in a big balloon, which doesnt compare with science itself.
Whatever it is, Atleat, there's something in an Atheists-Mind wich is more than enough to prove its existance. :)

May these Atheists live long, because of whom God is alive on this earth.
If there would have been all theist on this earth, than there would have been no importance of God. :D

All of that is another debate completly.

Can there be another option added that says both?
The needs which are fulfilled by science are created by science itself at the first place, or in other words all these needs are the by-product of science itself. Thus, there's no need of any such option.

God is science and science is God.

"Both" is the only reasonable answer.
