Of the commentaries by the media on Spicer’s press conference today CNN was the harshest. There is an ongoing battle between Trump and CNN, a battle that can not be won. Both sides need to lick their wounds, retreat and call it a day.

I’m reminded of what the father of communist China, Mao Zedong once said, “If anyone attacks us and if the conditions are favorable for battle, we will certainly act in self-defense to wipe him out resolutely, thoroughly, wholly and completely (we do not strike rashly, but when we do strike, we must win). We must never be cowed by the bluster of reactionaries.” To paraphrase what he meant, never go into battle unless you are absolutely sure you will victorious. Failure is not an option.
Truth does not lick its wounds and call it a day. Truth never gives up. Truth will win.

"forces of darkness"?

'Splain please?
Inquiring minds don'cha'know? eh?
In all major religious systems, truth is an attribute of the divine and falsehood the attribute of that which is opposed to the divine.

So to me what we are seeing now is an existential battle between the divine and the forces of darkness.

Really?
We are seeing politics and the media doing the media
thing.
You see a divine force at work?
Have you considered becoming a television
evangelist?
There's much money to be made in that field.
Just sayin'.

I don't see it. All the Trump supporters I know are still excited about the Presidency.
I suspect you are correct outside of the word "all" because many supported him because they would not vote for Hillary Clinton. His approval rating right now is in the toilet which to me says a lot but his real supporters are still hopeful.

First black president was a big deal for the black people. I remember seeing seas of black people at the first one, I don't think anyone showed up for the second term.
Exactly, it is as if people have already forgotten the huge popular wave that carried Obama to the Oval office. Comparing his turnout to Trump's is somewhat silly. It's like comparing the turnout to a Lagy Gaga concert to that of some unpopular Indy band.

I see the hand of the divine behind everything but don't expect everyone to agree with me. It's who I am and what I believe.

And you are entitled to that.
We all are. Ergo why we have at least 33,000
denominations of Christianity and two major
political parties.

If Spicer has enjoyed any credibility in the past, an many say he has, I would not be surprised that at some point he resigns. It is obvious, I think, that it was Trump that insisted on Spicer saying what he did. I am old enough to remember Nixon literally shoving his press secretary because he displeased him. Trump simply cannot stand anything that even hints at tainting his image.
