Sex With robots

<<<<People will be having sex with robots by 2050, an artificial intelligence expert has predicted.

David Levy's book Love And Sex With Robots: The Evolution Of Human-Robot Relationships claims robots will become so lifelike that they will be hard to distinguish from real people.

The 62-year-old, also a chess master, writes in his book: "Great sex on tap for everyone, 24/7. What's not to like?"

Robot technology is advancing hugely across the world, with Japan in particular making great strides towards robots which can help out in homes or hospitals.

Mr Levy believes that the people most likely to use a robot for sex are those who are too ugly or too isolated to find human romance.

He said: "They're lonely, they're miserable. I think society will be a much better place when they have an alternative that satisfies them without doing any harm to other people."

Mr Levy is not the first to predict sex with robots.

In 2006, Henrik Christensen of the European Robotics Research Network, predicted that people would be having sex with robots within five years.

Mr Levy also believes that relationships with robots may not just be about sex - people may end up marrying them as well.

"The question is not if this will happen, but when," he said, adding that he expected the state of Massachusetts to be the first in the US to allow it.>>>>

Can you commit adultery with a robot?

If the robot is anything like Phil's love doll, it will get plenty of milage.

I don't see any difference in having sex with a robot than using any sort of sex aid to attain satisfaction.

No imagination.

A sex robot just wouldn't be interesting without a celebrity series - Jessica Alba and et cetera.

So many ideas in that statement, and you want to ask only one question?

Oh, well.

I would say no. It would be like having an affair through watching pornography, but just up that next level. You are not having sexual relations with another person, are you? But it could definitely be considered in a different light depending on the couple in question.

As for the idea that only unattractive people would want to have sex with robots, I would say that's short-sighted at best. There would be other reasons to want a robot instead of a biological partner. What about people that do not want to have to worry about supporting a significant other? Not just financially, but emotionally, too? What about those that do not want the responsibilities of family? Or want to have to worry about their partner's opinions if they feel like having sex? You also do not have to put up with family commitments, arguments, your partner's friends, and so forth.

As for marriage, considering that marriage is quite strictly defined in most parts of the world, I cannot see how this will be extended to what many would see as just another machine. I can see the inept comparisons now - "would you let people marry their computer?" is something that I can definitely see coming. After all, there is a defined ownership of a robot.

Before marriage of that sort can occur, there would have to be a complete overhaul on laws regarding machine ownership first, and what can be considered owned and what can be considered independent, but I could see it happening.

I see it as another attempt of Western society to remove the obligation and responsibility of yet another somewhat complicated human condition to remove all the "bad" and keep only the "good."

And you think that no eastern society would wish to embrace robots?

Isn't prostitution already part of a step in that direction? This is just prostitution with technology, if you will.

Is Japan considered a "western" country?

I think you may be right. And it will bring to an end, the oldest profession...

Not that it's a bad thing.

The only competitor tho, maybe 'virtual reality'?

Based on how many McDonald's per square kilometre, yes.

The place I currently reside in does not have a McDonalds within one hundred kilometres. Does that mean I am, by definition, residing in an Eastern country? (I am actually in Australia)

Or what about Russia before the fall of communism? That had no McDonalds, but isn't it considered a western country?
