Sex With robots

Captain Civic

version 2.0
The place I currently reside in does not have a McDonalds within one hundred kilometres. Does that mean I am, by definition, residing in an Eastern country? (I am actually in Australia)

Or what about Russia before the fall of communism? That had no McDonalds, but isn't it considered a western country?

It was a tongue-in-cheek reply that I consider Japan as a Western nation.

I live in Australia too.

Lower birth rate, lower disease rate, lower divorce rate and lower lawyer fees. Although I doubt my wife would agree with me I fail to see a downside. I saw a documentary on HBO, Cinimax or Prism I don't recall but it was a bout a sex doll called "the real doll" and the positive effect it has had on the human psychology.

If you want to talk about the birth rate, that could be one of the new ways of controlling population - government discounts on these robots.

<<<<People will be having sex with robots by 2050, an artificial intelligence expert has predicted.

David Levy's book Love And Sex With Robots: The Evolution Of Human-Robot Relationships claims robots will become so lifelike that they will be hard to distinguish from real people.

The 62-year-old, also a chess master, writes in his book: "Great sex on tap for everyone, 24/7. What's not to like?"

Robot technology is advancing hugely across the world, with Japan in particular making great strides towards robots which can help out in homes or hospitals.

Mr Levy believes that the people most likely to use a robot for sex are those who are too ugly or too isolated to find human romance.

He said: "They're lonely, they're miserable. I think society will be a much better place when they have an alternative that satisfies them without doing any harm to other people."

Mr Levy is not the first to predict sex with robots.

In 2006, Henrik Christensen of the European Robotics Research Network, predicted that people would be having sex with robots within five years.

Mr Levy also believes that relationships with robots may not just be about sex - people may end up marrying them as well.

"The question is not if this will happen, but when," he said, adding that he expected the state of Massachusetts to be the first in the US to allow it.>>>>

Can you commit adultery with a robot?

what..... the .... fu*k....

first off I would life to point out, there is no such thing as an artificial intelligence expert, not yet anyhow, as there are no true artificial intelligences on this planet. as soon as someone makes a computer that is self aware (first evidence of something doing that is when something asks "what is my purpose?" or "why am I alive?") until then, the most we can do, is create programs that simulate intelligence, but still runs like a program, and has no free thought. sorry if i got off topic, I just had to point it out, i was compelled. i think i might actually have a slight case of OCD with that sort of thing, also, with starburst wrappers. they need to be neatly stacked.

Would most people really care if their sexbot was sentient?

thats not what i'm pointing out.

I understand what you are pointing out, but my question is, would people really care if their robot did not formulate it's own response to stimuli, (sentience) rather, it followed it's own programming codes?

Certainly, it would be easy enough to formulate different codes for different personalities of robots, too, which would merely have to be downloaded onto the robot.

probably not, if it were sentient the people would have to deal with pillow talk and all that jazz, very inconvienient :D

That is a very good point. What exists for artificial programing is very limited learning, but it's still based upon prescripted programming. Hell, the 20 Questions hand hold thing has yet to correctly guess what I think of correctly.

But, I would see a sex robot as nothing more than a sex toy, similiar to a love doll. I just do not see how it could replace being with a real human, especially in a romantic love-making encounter. But, the sex robot would give a new meaning to "cyber skin."

That's an excellent analogy for the situation - if having sex with a blow-up doll is having an affair, then the robot must be.

I see it as another attempt of Western society to remove the obligation and responsibility of yet another somewhat complicated human condition to remove all the "bad" and keep only the "good."
Actually, I have no doubts the Japanese would be the first to create sex robots, especially since technology and sex are two very important culture points over there. And, I do not know of anyone who would consider Japan to be a Western nation.

i'm also curious as to how they plan on simulating the uhh... "feel" of sex, love dulls (yes dulls, they are very boring, from my point of view anyhow... this subject is starting to skirt close to being in a sex forum...)and other toys of that nature are only similar to the hand.
