I came across this article on Yahoo!

<<<<People will be having sex with robots by 2050, an artificial intelligence expert has predicted.

David Levy's book Love And Sex With Robots: The Evolution Of Human-Robot Relationships claims robots will become so lifelike that they will be hard to distinguish from real people.

The 62-year-old, also a chess master, writes in his book: "Great sex on tap for everyone, 24/7. What's not to like?"

Robot technology is advancing hugely across the world, with Japan in particular making great strides towards robots which can help out in homes or hospitals.

Mr Levy believes that the people most likely to use a robot for sex are those who are too ugly or too isolated to find human romance.

He said: "They're lonely, they're miserable. I think society will be a much better place when they have an alternative that satisfies them without doing any harm to other people."

Mr Levy is not the first to predict sex with robots.

In 2006, Henrik Christensen of the European Robotics Research Network, predicted that people would be having sex with robots within five years.

Mr Levy also believes that relationships with robots may not just be about sex - people may end up marrying them as well.

"The question is not if this will happen, but when," he said, adding that he expected the state of Massachusetts to be the first in the US to allow it.>>>>

Can you commit adultery with a robot?
People are already having sex with some fairly advanced machines that are intended to replicate the human anatomy and experience. So we don't have to wait to 2050.

In some cases the machines are a marked improvement.

Although this topic is not really fit for a religious forum....
Why not? Sex is certainly a big part of many religions, and a very big part of being human.

Sometimes these discussions result in a bunch of people typing their posts with one hand, if you catch my meaning. There are chatrooms for people to cyber. I would think this was a place to lift people up in Christ.

I believe the standard we all should set is to try and imagine how Penguino's parents might look upon this conversation. Either we keep this forum adults only, or we clean up our act.

Admin might want to consider the liability issues of discussing erotic subjects with minors.

Ok thats stupid. Just becasue i am young, doesent mean im stupid, or am not mature enough to be here.

In support of Reverend Rick, there have been many instances of children doing things that they should not do on the internet, because they did not know better.

As a personal example, I know a fifteen year old that downloaded a lot of... pictorial material onto his mother's computer, and unknowingly downloaded a virus along with all of those pictures. To fix that silly mistake cost several hundred dollars in repair bills. The individual in question was quite mature, which can be demonstrated by the material that he downloaded. Nonetheless, he was not mature enough to see the potential ramifications in what he was doing.

Although this is not relevant to you in this forum, I use it to illustrate that no matter how old or mature you claim to be, you can make serious mistakes while on the internet.

Apart from this, there is the potential for legal trouble, as Rick discussed. Even should you not agree with what he has said, I am sure that you could see why other people would. I am sure that someone of your maturity can see why Rick might be somewhat concerned as to what you are reading.

LOL!! I know alot of ADULTS who have done this.

Allthough I will say that even a 13 year old is entitled to having an opinion. Granted over a subject like sex that opinion is probably not fully developed, and will probably change over certain aspects of sexuality, I personally think it can be good for an individual who is either starting or about to start puberty, to access information about sex that isn't too detailed in a mature setting.

Let me just say this rojse, there are 50 year old men who have a fit when htye see a pair of breasts. I dont look at porn, i am not stupid. I dont look at that. I am mature enough to be here,

speedy progresses concerning artificial human implants could manage that people might be considered as robots when their proportion of human bodyparts drop under 50%.
many folks would change into robots by aging then, after the natural performance of their organs decreases.
if said changes from men to machine included changes of genders as well (today you already can remove urinary and excretory systems implanting artificial replacing elements instead) maybe marriage seeking homosexual couples are allowed to celebrate their wedding in lds temples or roman catholic churches some day :/sarcasm off.

penguino, I never said you were stupid or immature. I said it is inappropriate for adults to discuss sexual matters with minors. All one has to do is quit talking in general and use the wrong grammar where it could be read as personal and adults could go to jail.

I know no one has done anything wrong, but find it stepping right up to the line.

As far as the comment you made about 50 year old's having a cow about a woman's breasts, that's bull.

Err, no its not. I always walk past my local pub on hte way home to school. Thats what i see. You dont have to believe me. I know what you mean, im just sayign that, i can be here, i do undertand this and i am not stupid. (i know you are not saying that i am stupid)

It's called a cyborg when a man takes on machine aspects. I'm not sure what percentage though.

I think I might misunderstand the first part of this....why would you need to go man to machine to have a sex change? Also, it would be very extreme for a homosexual to undergo a sex change just to marry there partner. Actually, they would have a very hard time finding a therapist who would give them the clearance to go ahead with it.

ad cyborgs: had no idea whether or not sci-fi-phenomena are known well by people who are posting on a religious messageboard.

think i made clear that today nonfictionish organs and even systems already can be replaced by implanting artificial elements (i wouldnt consider patients fitted with heart pacemakers or insulin pumps as cyborgs though; but thats a matter of definition, i guess), so the logical step of a change from men to machine to men to sex-machine *blushes* - wouldnt make much sense to discuss fanciless sex reassignment surgery when a subject reads “sex with robots”, would it? - didnt appeare to me too difficult to be understood.

as a straight woman i do not have many gay/lesbian friends, but those few i have are taking into consideration to undergo a sex change just for a possible wedding (in europe you become a man/woman by law after this procedure, two people of formerly the same sex can get married legally then).

This thread is still alive? Has anyone mentioned the ultimate girl-toy yet? He's fully functional.

"Elsewhere, Data arrives at Yar's quarters, where she has changed to a revealing gown and throws her arms around him. She pulls the bewildered andriod into her bedroom telling him she wants "gentleness and love."

The technical term for a person with robotic implants is a cyborg.

Why do you consider fifty percent to be the cutoff, anyway? Why would you consider a strict percentage, when it might be considered on the basis of the types of robotic limbs used, or so forth?

many folks would change into robots by aging then, after the natural performance of their organs decreases.

What about due to injury or disease? What about if someone just wants the versatility of robotic arms, which can be far more easily modified than the human arm? I don't see ageing as the only reason for a person to procure robotic limbs.

An interesting idea, but isn't the point of changing gender to have functioning biological parts of the opposite gender?

This is not a part of any discussion on robots or the like. If you feel that it is worth discussing, put it in another thread.

I don't see why it should not be, a lot of science fiction deals with philosophy and religion, both of which are extremely important on RF.
