Is, judge not lest you be judged, a stupid saying or does it have merit and why?
Have you judged what your God has said and done, as best as you can prove or believe?
If not, then how can you know that you follow the right God?

Take for instance the Biblical deity.
He set up 613 rules for his followers.
I can list them if you like....
I make to claim to any deity, nor has any deity made any claim to me.All I need at present is to know if your he/she God kills humans.
Other 2000 yr. old laws might be outdated. Ie. No stem cell laws.

I take the meaning of "Judge not..." to the extreme;
I think God wants us to be so open minded that we don't even have any opinions about anything.
Basically He wants us to be stupid.
Basically like saying, "You might be able to get away with living by a double standard on the outside, but it'll catch up to you on the inside".
I don't really disagree with the saying. But why it so often is interpreted as a call to avoid judgement as opposed to fully embracing it, I just don't know.
Of course we judge, and we must judge! How else do we get out of bed in the morning? We'd be paralyzed.
I was in a conversation with a Christian sort of about this. I said you must use your own judgment to decide whether god was good; I mean, at some point it has to come down to the individual buying into it all. Right?
No. He said, it doesn't matter what he himself considers good, because he trusts the lord; that the "decisions" of an omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent god must be right because god is right.
How do we know god is right? Because he's god. No judgment required, just trust.
This ... conversation is ongoing lol.
I make to claim to any deity, nor has any deity made any claim to me.
Now many followers of various deities have made claims for their deity.
But I am not a second hander type person and I believe that hearsay in matters of such importance is not very reliable.
Perhaps because it says do not and not embrace. Just a guess.
Double standard. Is that like God saying do not kill humans right up to that point in time where He uses His genocidal flood.

It is still a double standard.Well, according to Christianity He did Himself in later so I wouldn't call it a double standard.
That would be missing the larger context, however: in actual life one can't help but make judgements.
So the saying can only make real sense as a reminder that there is a price to be paid, not as a literal call to avoid judgement entirely.

Who there. God cannot die. Fact is, I saw the SOB last week ridding a horse.
I had heard that Christ stopped being a cowboy when Bush was elected but I guess he resurrected his horse and is, back in the saddle again.
Hey, that could make a song. Hmm.

Take the verse in a fuller context.Should God be judged?
Many have told me to judge not lest ye be judged.
I find this to be a rather stupid saying because I judge all things in order to know what should be believed or followed and what should be discarded.
To not do so would mean that I just accept all that is said and this of course would foul up any chance of knowing what is true or false. After all there is much in the way of contradictory information out there.

Only if you define righteousness according to how your god acts. Now if you are going to judge God according to righteousness then He will not be found wanting since He only acts according to righteousness.
Take the verse in a fuller context.
" Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." Matthew 7:1-2 KJV
Now if you are going to judge God according to righteousness then He will not be found wanting since He only acts according to righteousness.
