So? This website used to start real life relationships and eventual marriages. People used to often and frequently befriend each other outside of the forum. Between chatrooms, online games, instant messaging, webcams, and even Christmas card exchanges, a few real life meetups, and even forming another forum after the first round of break downs this site went through, this forum was really just another way we interacted with each other. And people actually cared about each other. You could learn things about each other's views, and not expect them to be mocked and ridiculed. You could discuss the news and current events, and it not turn into a political bashing orgy.
What's stopping anybody from that still happening?

Anyways I was here long enough to remember the forum on how proud it was with its lack of advertising and simplicity and user accessibility . .

Times change . Look at it now.

Subjects and topics are the same thing and inevitably as time, people , and places grow , Things get more intense and engaged . It's like the Simplicity of a small town where everybody knew everybody versus big metropolitan environments where it's a jumble , but very active.

As proof just look how popular debate is, as opposed to discussion. It's a good thing I think because it gets people engaged and active.

I think if people wanted to, they could still have the 'good old days'. Just make a thread like the old RF'ers club or similar.

Personally, I like both chaotic and subdued subject matter. One day swinging around the old Bushido Sword, and the other day just pleasantly drinking some e-tea and e - coffee with my fellow human beings and engaging in some passive and pleasant conversation.

A focus on "commercial appeal" and "popularity" over community.

It's always had ads. Even when we had members who were paid supporters, rather than "premium members," a benefit was no ads in addition to some other perks.

It was never in your face and obtrusive as it is now, which I think is intentional by design in order to get you to pay to go back to ad 'free'.

If people are going to go through that route, then make this forum a pay site.

That's pretty far fetched.

Using the definition of proposed for the word proposed is pretty farfetched?
I'd have been executed as a very gruesome and violent serial killer years ago if my thoughts were anything I necessarily believed or would advocate after the thought fleets away. And sometimes doing so brings up some serious things for consideration and debate, and even if you don't agree with it there really aren't any ideas that aren't worth considering. Even things that are immoral, why shouldn't they be considered? How can you properly defend what you do believe if you haven't challenged it? How can you "believe it," rather than being a dogmatic nutcase, if you aren't open to questions and new ideas?
Pull yourself together woman; there are people watching. Are you responsible for the white claw shortage?

Joking aside, i think you should reread my post a couple times, or perhaps have someone else read it to see if whatever it was you saw in the post was seen by anyone else.

There wasn't a word or definition offered as a proposal, but simply something to ponder.

That's not what the OP included, said, or suggested.
That is most certainly what the OP proposed:

Proposed: put forward (an idea or plan) for consideration or discussion by others.

Are you suggesting that the OP did not mean to discuss or open a discussion about whether the political forums should stay or go?

That goes against the commercial appeal goal.
As much as commercialism irks me, you probably wouldn't have as much 'free' stuff to engage in if it wasn't for sponsors.

It's kind of like me and in my love for hot pickled sausages. Comparably they are totally delicious and fulfilling, but alas there's a price to be paid in one way or another for enjoying such privileges. *Grin*

Yup. And I'm not interested in what they're selling. It's often not even stuff that applies to me anyways.

Exactly. Adblock takes care of them without having to go premium.
Yes, but for sites that I want to support and am too cheap to pay, I leave them on.

Sadly more and more news sites have found a way to prevent seeing content unless one turns off their adblocker.

Often if a site asks politely I will shut them off, but after I was on what I do believe was "Food networks" when I turned off the adblock I was taken to a site that tried to shut me out of my computer. Who would think that a recipe site would be as bad as porn sites used to be?

If every time Trump/AOC/Biden sneezes/coughs/says something you like/dislike and you feel the need to praise/vent about it, write a blog, keep a diary or something. We can read the news for ourselves, and this is a religious forum. Post religious news.
4U, AOC needs 2B put on the QT, PDQ, B4U become 1 angry VIP?

That may have been a bug creeping through ad networks. It happened a couple years ago to a guitar website I use, and I had a client who was having the same hijack/redirect problem.
