Should US Repeal Bill of Rights?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
No I know they aren't in the Bill of Rights, these are just laws that are wrong and unconstitutional and the Bill of Rights are the last things that should be repealed.
Two things are possible.

War will erupt or..

People will just say, Eh. What can we do about it? Shrug the shoulders, and walk away to watch some tv.

If you laugh until your sides hurt, I suppose.
Think of the greatest humorists of all time Mow Howard, Jerome Howard, Shemp Howard, & Larry Fine.
Saws being pulled across bald pates, eyes being poked, fists flying around to connect with a noggen.....it's all about pain.

After watching Ten minutes of those videos, and another twenty minutes near speechless trying to think of a reply, it seemed like the only appropriate thing left to say. I'm not sure whether watching that made me scream inside or just want to cry. I can well imagine any number of people standing on a street corner doing precisely that for real reasons and my heart sinks when it just realise how easy is it. it's just a signature. or worse, just a cross in a box everytime you go and vote. I couldn't find the funny side of it as its people's rights. they are fragile and easily violated, but repealing them entirely plays in to the hands out the worst of us. it doesn't even give us some standard to defend ourselves with or measure up to. Your avatar reminded me that it was Churchill who made the quote "the best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with theaverage voter." Sadly stuff like this proves he was right.

Its an appualing commentry on the state of american democracy and just how fragile it is. Abe Lincoln's quote just made me feel less uneasy, that inspite of the staggering ignorance of the people in those videos and how unknowingly they just signed a petition to throw away their rights, democracy is still worth fighting for. Only sheer idealism in the face of the evidence seemed the most appropriate or human response.
In class, I occassionally find students who seem to be on this level of ignorance, but it is really rare; most seem to have a passing familiarity with the Constitution, etc., and moreso by the time the semester is finished. I like to believe I'm doing my little bit to make things better...but when I'm in my darker moods, even that little light doesn't help much, sometimes...

I'd read it was a variant of a WC Fields quote in a movie.
This is a common theory, but there is sufficient evidence that Churchill actually said this to Bessie Braddock (British Politician). I think the doubters didn't really have a reason to doubt it apart from a similar quote in a movie prior, which should lead one to think it more plausible that Churchill actually said it. Real or apocryphal, having the quote attributed to him earns my respect.
