Well, in the case of how they're treated by the police departments, that's an issue which all of society can get behind, at least as far as reining in the police, making them more accountable, demanding transparency in law enforcement. That's an issue for the voters and the politicians they elect to government. To purposely take the focus off of the police and put it on "white people" as a generalized group only serves to confuse the issue and distract the public from any real proposals for change.
As you mention regarding the 50s and 60s, this has been an ongoing issue. To what would you attribute the lack of any real genuine progress when it comes to systemic racism and the abuses by government and the police?
