The most common small talk is about the weather. When people bring it up I think "IT'S GON' RAIN" "Thanks Ollie"

Hello. I am from United States, now we are in a hot climate, but nothing is perfect, right? In other words, it's too hot for comfort and we need air conditioning and when the power goes out, we're v-e-r-y unhappy. (One day I think the earth and living conditions will be wonderful though.)
I have visited Paris. I even have a copy of a painting of the Eiffel Tower. I think you would like the picture, I will try to send a copy of it to you. :)
Also I was in Germany and Rome. I am not a big traveler, but when my husband and I were younger we did those things a little bit. I like going to a lake or ocean and sometimes just looking at the water.

Thank you. I see no reason not to be kind. You are pleasant to talk to. Right now I can't travel but! One day I look forward to everlasting life on a beautiful 'new' earth. Where we can enjoy life to the full. Who knows? Maybe I'll even think alligators are cute.

i want to speak about religion, philosophy and spirituality with my friends. but in reality we only smalltalk about everything except religion
I don't like small talk either. It's awful. I don't really like social occasions, unless we talk about things that really matter. I like to go Zoom sessions where we talk about Baha'i subjects. At one time I started a Zoom group that talked about the Hidden Words of Baha'u'llah, not very many people came, but the discussion was lively. I had a file 133 pages long that was a discussion starter. Since then it has grown to 150 pages. The Hidden Words start like this:

He Is the Glory of Glories

This is that which hath descended from the realm of glory, uttered by the tongue of power and might, and revealed unto the Prophets of old. We have taken the inner essence thereof and clothed it in the garment of brevity, as a token of grace unto the righteous, that they may stand faithful unto the Covenant of God, may fulfill in their lives His trust, and in the realm of spirit obtain the gem of divine virtue.

Following that, we had a Sermon on the Mount study comparing those verses with the Baha'i Writings. My Beatitudes file is 22 pages long. My Fulfillment and Observance of Commandments file is 18 pages long. Anger, Reconciliation, and Severance file is 13 pages long. Teachings on Oaths, Alms, Prayer, and Fasting is 14 pages long. On Money is 11 pages long. Some Spiritual Counsels 14 pages long. false and True Prophets only 8 pages. Exactly 100 pages. Still a small group, but we enjoyed ourselves. That was all I had to offer, but since then I have been joining groups about Islam and the Baha'i Faith, other than that its on mostly Baha'i subjects. I make friends through these discussion groups.

Talk quality depends entirely on you.
What you have to say, and the people you
choose to associate with.

As for awful, theres hardly worse than
paragraphs, pages, treatises of fluffed up
" spiritual" writing.

You thoughtfully provided an example, stripped of fluff:

" Prophets claim messages from god.
Heres a summary to act on."

Thats all it says

Excerpt:

" we have taken the essence thereof and
clothed it in the garment of brevity " :D ( italics added)

Small talk is all about establishing rapport

I enjoy it

I prefer having more substantial conversations but small talk has its role

It helps increase familiarity, it helps you better know a person so you can then go on and have a more deep and meaningful conversation

Lovely weather we're having!!

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
The weather here is fabulous too. I am originally from Texas where it's at least 20 degrees hotter than here. I mean, the weather there is horrible. It has four seasons - Almost Summer, Summer, Still Summer and Christmas. I remember having to check to see if I had to wear a short sleeve shirt or a long sleeve, cotton one on THANKSGIVING. Sheeze. Anyway, I don't mind small talk but it has its place and it's not everywhere, all the time. But it can break the ice.

our weather here.

forcast is for more of the same as far out as forecasts go.
