Why wouldn't it be reasonable to expect Trump or any president to be exemplary?

It's reasonable to demand that the president be exemplary. Just because you're not likely to get see your demands realized doesn't mean demanding such a thing is not the wisest thing to do.

I can't believe that this even needs to be said.

The only refuge for Trump supporters is pretending as if standards no longer matter.

I didn't vote for him because I needed a history lesson.
This is the USA, our president isn't elected by the people, remember?

It doesn't matter who voted for who or why. President Trump is the reality. And the accusations, that go all the way up to treason, are evidence based.
That's just the 1st 100 days.
Holding him to a higher standard than anybody else, in multiple ways, is the only rational way to protect the country. That's why doing things like firing Comey matter so much.
This is not the kind of partisan crap that the Republicans did to Obama, like the birther thing. This is real, and a grave threat to national security. Waiting until it is proven that he is selling security secrets to his Russian supporters is unbelievably dense.

Nah, conservatives similarly show themselves to be thin-skinned, holier-than-thou, and self-absorbed, what with their Christian persecution complex, their belief that they alone are True Patriots, and that any disagreement must be the result of the liberal media conspiracy. Trump is just a typical conservative in this regard.

It seems all ideologues are somewhat self-absorbed and adolescent in nature. Self-righteousness and self-realization aren't compatible.
