So will they or won't they? (Russia/Ukraine)

I wouldn't like to live in the region between these disputed areas and Crimea - since that might be the next move, apart from trying to take the Ukraine as a whole.

As predicted im not so sure they are there for peacekeeping though, after all putin has already chosen the ukranian government if he goes in which is so more likely now.

As far as what was predicted, the US government predicted that the Russians would be pouring into Ukraine in a massive invasion, highlighted by missile attacks on Kiev. But they didn't predict this.

No they didn't but putin had this all figured out a while back, fastracking russian passports for the seperatists was his way in and what everyone fears now is a false flag attack like the crimea.

Meanwhile Nato can do nothing apart from sanctsions and the the UN can do nothing because russia can veto,he may very well get away with it again as he did in the crimea, hope not though.

A Russian politician predicted the invasion of Ukraine almost to the hour - two months ago. On December 27 ultranationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky told parliament that a military campaign would begin at 4am on February 22. The Vladimir Putin backing separatist's words suggested a clear plan by the Russian authorities which has been unfolding since the end of last year. In December, Zhirinovsky told MPs over the move on Ukraine: “I wish 2022 would be a peaceful year, but I love the truth. I’ve been telling the truth for 72 years. This will not be a peaceful year. This will be the year when Russia will finally become a great country again. And everyone has to shut up, and respect our country."

True or not, this is often how some seem to not grasp reality - as to getting respect rather than simply demanding such.

Well, it's definitely a complicated situation. For one thing, the majority of the population of the regions in question are ethnically Russian, so it's not as if they're invading some totally foreign country. Let the people who live there decide what they want to do. They're the ones on the front lines and actually facing the situation, while most of the rest of us are just observers from afar, safe and sound in our own countries.

I agree,a binding referendum would be the ideal but i'm sure he has his eyes on the ukraine as a whole which in his speech he says was created by russia and blamed stalin for losing it,at this point it's keep you fingers crossed he doesn't go for it.
