Strait answer time.

Kejos,

  1. Are you a Christian?
  2. If someone calls themselves a Christian, but differ in their interpretation of the Bible from you, are they Christians?

Good.

If there are over a billion Roman Catholics, does that imply a measure of practical agreement on possibly Christian belief?
Try again.

kejos, did you miss this:

Interesting. So what you're saying is that there are a lot of people who say they're Christians, but really aren't? And also that there is no way to tell?

In the Old Testament, it states that if a woman should commit adultery, she should be stoned to death

Further, in the Old Testament, it states that if a woman should not scream loud enough while being raped, she should be stoned to death for not screaming loud enough and for her own defilement

Is this acceptable in any way, shape, or form ?

Thank you

Acceptable to whom, the woman?

Why is it that some posters lack the basic courtesy to respond to a polite, reasonable question, do you know? And so many of them are Christian. It's all I can do to resist the temptation to subscribe to a broad generalization.

(Sarcasm)I have been looking for some really big stones to throw at adulteresses. I have found some really sharp ones to maximize the damage I inflict when I stone them (end Sarcasm)

Seriously, if you read The Gospel According to John Chapter 8, you will find a nice narrative about how Jesus stopped some men from stoning a woman by saying "he who is without sin may cast the first stone". :)

i think we need robots that can stone adulterers. that's what the law requires...that or really strong babies. :D
Why didn't Jesus cast the first stone...very sinfull god. ;)

How do you know?

Now a little lesson in the golden rule for you, kejos. Wouldn't it be rude or evasive of me to just ignore your polite question that you posed in response to my post? Being neither rude not evasive, nor having any reason to be, I'm happy to answer it.

I only know what they claim. I don't assume that Rf members are lying about their religious status. But are you suggesting that if they claim to be Christian, I should be more suspicious?

But if the principle He voiced were universally applied it would preclude all punishment for anything. No-one has ever applied this scripture.

The more brutal and destructive scriptures, on the other hand, do get applied.

No-one has ever applied this scripture.

What about the Cathars, the Mennonites and the Quakers? I'm sure there are others too. It is certainly what I aspire to live by.
To my mind Christianity and non-violence/pacifism are inextricably linked.

According to Bart Ehrman, author of "Misquoting Jesus", that narrative does not appear in scriptures written before the 10th Century AD and is therefore thought by scholars to be a late addition.

Hiya Sunstone!
Given the Bible is myth and story once it was in it by the time I picked it up it was time enough
