SOTU, so what?

Yawn. More Biden bashing. Business as usual from those who demanded a border package and then disavowed it because Trump told them to. No matter what he says and does, some will yell "evil evil" and if he does the opposite, still "evil evil".

It won't happen but I'd love to see Dark Brandon take the stage. It would liven up the proceedings.

Yeah. In times past he'd be noted as a remarkably unremarkable President. Not particularly good or bad. Just another business as usual, ho hum president.

I heard a clip of Biden's speech on NPR.
Ugh....I try to avoid hearing politicians speak.

Once again Palestinian deaths are always
spoken of in passive voice. Palestinians die
in massive numbers. It's what happens, much
like the weather. There is no responsibility
addressed.
It's never "Israel killed them." or "We sent
bombs to Israel to kill Palestinians."
Genocide Joe is now just playing catch up
politics, & not owning up to his role in the
slaughter.

Maybe his teleprompter put those words in lower-case letters so he could stop shouting.

Oh, he's still silent about his program to
create a police state by allowing cops to
take anyone's property without any due
process...without even being suspected
of a crime. And the cops get to keep it
all, & spend it on themselves.

Try depositing over $10,000 in cash into your own bank account sometime, and then you'll realize (at the cost of $10,000) that no such program exists, but the policy to allow such things to happen does.

He still sounded more "with it" than Trump does.
Although that's a very low bar.

A $10,000 cash deposit is no problem. The bank
will report that amount to the fed. The problem
arises if one deposits that amount separately during
a 12 month period.

But that's not what Genocide Joe did.

The only thing he sounded "with" was whatever drug his handlers had him take, which started wearing off toward the end when he went off-prompter and started trying to think again, and that's when he really started showing himself to be a wannbe dictator.

Yeah, it fell apart after about 15 minutes. He was randomly angry and yelling at times, and other times, he was slurring his words and tripping himself up. I was waiting for a denture to fly out. They really needed to pull him off the stage as it was unraveling.

Jumping Jack Kamala could have given him a signal that it's time to wrap up, but she was too busy cheerleading.
Maybe she was just so excited about his flubs and how she could be the next president as a result.

Yup. If he yells, it's bad. If he does not yell, it's bad. Yawn
It was just phoney. Yelling when he read from the teleprompter (probably written in ALL CAPS, which he interpreted to mean he should yell), and then calming down when he was off-script because his confidence suddenly was gone without help. Calling Laken Riley "Lincoln" and then being booed by his own people when referring to illegals must have been a reality check for him.

Definitely. It's obvious to me that she hates him. You can see her laughing and making faces when he screws up. I'm sure she's praying for him to keel over at any point.

She's probably amazed--or frustrated--that he's made it through all but 10 months of a 4 year term that she thought he'd have no chance of completing. If he expired, even today, she'd have 8 months of being hated until Trump defeats her even more easily than he could defeat Biden, which has just become even easier after last night.

That speech proved to me that in spite of the gaslighting the right is doing, I'm all in on Biden. FOUR MORE YEARS

Hate, anger, revenge, retribution are the oldest of ideas. But you can’t lead America with ancient ideas that only take us back. To lead America, the land of possibilities, you need a vision for the future and what can and should be done.

Now — now my predecessor, a former Republican president, tells Putin, quote, “Do whatever the hell you want.”
...
January 6th lies about the 2020 election and the plots to steal the election posed a great — gravest threat to U.S. democracy since the Civil War.

But they failed. America stood — America stood strong and democracy prevailed. We must be honest: The threat to democracy must be defended (defeated).

My predecessor and some of you here seek to bury the truth about January 6th. I will not do that.
...
My God, what freedom else would you take away?
...
But my predecessor and many in this chamber want to take the — that prescription drug away by repealing Affordable Care Act.
...
It’s my goal to cut the federal deficit another $3 trillion by making big corporations and the very wealthy finally beginning to pay their fair share.

Look, I’m a capitalist. If you want to make or can make a million or millions of bucks, that’s great. Just pay your fair share in taxes.
...
The way to make the tax code fair is to make big corporations and the very wealthy begin to pay their share. Remember in 2020, 55 of the biggest companies in America made $40 billion and paid zero in federal income tax. Zero.

AUDIENCE: Booo — (of course the right boos because they are owned by the superrich who get by without paying their fair share)

No billionaire should pay a lower federal tax rate than a teacher, a sanitation worker, or a nurse.

Oh, you don’t like that bill — huh? — that conservatives got together and said was a good bill? I’ll be darned. That’s amazing.

By an illegal. That’s right. But how many of thousands of people are being killed by legals?

But 59 years later, there are forces taking us back in time: voter suppression, election subversion, unlimited dark money, extreme gerrymandering.

After another shooting in Iowa recently, he said — when asked what to do about it, he said, just “get over it.” That was his quote. Just “get over it.”

I know the American story. Again and again, I’ve seen the contest between competing forces in the battle for the soul of our nation, between those who want to pull America back to the past and those who want to move America into the future.

My lifetime has taught me to embrace freedom and democracy, a future based on core values that have defined America — honesty, decency, dignity, and equality; to respect everyone; to give everyone a fair shot; to give hate no safe harbor.

Now, other people my age see it differently. The American story of resentment, revenge, and retribution.

Whether young or old, I’ve always been known — I’ve always known what endures. I’ve known our North Star. The very idea of America is that we’re all created equal, deserves to be treated equally throughout our lives.

We’ve never fully lived up to that idea, but we’ve never walked away from it either. And I won’t walk away from it now.

Hate, anger, revenge, retribution are the oldest of ideas. But you can’t lead America with ancient ideas that only take us back. To lead America, the land of possibilities, you need a vision for the future and what can and should be done.

than Treasonous Trump. But not enuf
for me to vote for him.

This is a hilarious read.

It’s no accident that Alabama Sen. Katie Britt issued the Republican Party’s response to the State of the Union address from her kitchen table, since the kitchen is precisely where the GOP would prefer we women spend most of our lives. Ideally, Britt would have been canning beans or kneading bread with a baby on her hip at the same time, but the related racket would likely have made her strained stage-whispers about murderous immigrants difficult to hear.

This unhinged author slams the republican response because it is from a kitchen where we republicans all "want women to stay", all the while the speech was coming from a republican woman in power in US congress. These people are a joke.

Biden said this in 2020:

Here's my promise to you: If I'm elected president, I will always choose to unite rather than divide.

I'll take responsibility instead of blaming others.

I'll never forget that the job isn't about me — it's about you.

Do you think he is keeping his promise?
I wonder if anyone wants to respond to this?
