Suicide

It's wrong

God says in the Qur'an:

(O you who have believed, do not consume one another's wealth unjustly but only [in lawful] business by mutual consent.
And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allāh is to you ever Merciful) (4:29)

God is a Merciful God, His door is always open, and He helps out those who seek His help

There is always hope ...

Man, there's a whole can-of-worm. I'm a permanent resident of the state of suicidal; but as a function of my integrity rather than my morality. It is morally wrong, there ain't no ambiguity about it; but there are considerations outside of morality.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
It would be unfortunate, and certainly not any type of permanent escape as I see it.

Most people who commit suicide happen to be in great mental pain or physical distress and is in need of compassion, support, and kindness as much as can be made possible. Such a decision however if all reasonable attempts at compassion fail, is ultimately their own to make without any encouragement.

I think suicide is an inexcusable injustice to those left heartbroken and crushed by it

I agree i have known a couple of people who have committed suicide and their family were and are devastated.

I have also known people hang on to life against the odds with such force and dignity that someone ending their own life seems to rub me up the wrong way.

On the other hand i totally understand that mental illness can play its part in someone's decision to "end it all" which of course is a totally different thing than someone deciding to end their life because of a terminal illness or the poor quality of life they have because of an illness or disability on that scenario i just don't have an answer.

What do you think about suicide?

In Japan there are survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings who refer to themselves as-
‘Those who refused to commit suicide’
I take inspiration therefrom and remind myself that there is nothing in my life that surpasses what they went through.

To me it is perhaps the ultimate personal matter. I don't think it is of moral significance itself, but one must consider the bonds with other people.

Of course, often enough it is the bonds with other people that justify suicide.

Pretty much what I would have said.

I've been depressed enough in the past to think "what's the point in living?" but I was still aware that there is always the potential for life to get better. If you commit suicide you may be ending the suffering that you feel there and then, but you also rob yourself of the opportunity of having life improve. We're all going to die eventually, it's worth seeing it through to the end even if you feel like you're in hell right now, because you never know what's around the next corner.

It is of course one of the few things about our lives, that we can decide absolutely by our selves.
when we are born when we marry and most other personal event are decisions of others, or that we at most, have a share in.
Suicide is neither right nor wrong in itself. Society is effected by it, and society holds that it is wrong.
inevitably it has an effect on those around you.

Sure. At that point it is very much an arbitrary choice.
Luis ji, We are in this body because of the fear of loosing it, if there would be no fear, than we would be somewhere else,---not in this body.

Why there is fear ?
Because we want to touch, see, feel our belongings or our beloved ones and we love our body too, as we take care of it day and night, body is just the instrument to feel this world. :)

As we were talking about the person who no bondages at all, Such kind of person have no reason to stay in this world, So what is the use of body, or why suicide. :D

And this is known as death before death or "Samadhi". :)
