The Atheist Delusion

Dell

Asteroid insurance?
The film is obvious creationist Christian propaganda. The interviewer is baiting for ignorance (a common tactic of so called Christian witnessing). I bet he would not go the whole hour with Lawrence Krauss without starting to stutter. He should have ask Prof. Krauss about something from nothing (an excellent book by the way) and Richard Dawkins about what came first the chicken or the egg..

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I strongly suspect the video isn't really for atheists anyways. It's really geared for the Christians because there's a continual and constant need to reinforce their faith in attempts to keep it from falling apart.

I would say the vast majority of atheists wouldnt even bother with Ray Comfort's ramblings. Save perhaps the entertainment factor he brings to the table.

A bit like Baghdad Bob trying hard to be oblivious to the reality going on around him while his vain attempts at reassurance are drowned out by explosions and gunfire.

It's sort of enlightening watching these atheist pressed for answers with simple questions. Like they've been indoctrinated up to a point which they accept and they are lost beyond that simple point. Then he starts talking about Hell. Pity.

So you do know that this a heavily edited film targeted at believers to support their own beliefs and that the people interviewed were approached out of the blue and asked the questions without any allowing any prep time? And you do know that the ones who might have a reasonable answer ready to their lips are lying on the cutting room floor?

Go ahead and start a thread and ask any or all of the simple questions. I think you will get answers.

You've got to ask yourself, complexity aside, when they developed a heart or blood first. Why would one develop without the other?

Blood ( a liquid carrying nutrients) came first. In small animals, no vessel system is required to distribute the gases and food. Later, you get simple blood vessels with one or more parts able to contract to direct the flow (a primitive heart).

You only say that because you think evolution is necessary for you to live an amoral lifestyle. It isn't. They were doing that long before evolution.
Do you actually think like this? If serious, the above is something I would expect from someone pretty low on rationality. The position is completely untenable, gross misinformation and simply a nonsensical correlation. If you don't know or can't see that then I can only offer my condolences on the loss of large chunks of your intellectual capacity. How did it happen, by the way?

That's what the video suggested and it seemed to make sense. The stooges thought so anyway. I'm at a loss. I don't know what to think. I don't trust anything any atheists say to me.

As ridiculous as that sounds, how do you know this is even remotely possible? Imagination?

Why does that sound ridiculous? We can still see very simple organisms with such a system today.

Early on fluids merely flowed through organisms, as they still do in animals like sponges today. A circulation system developed with a closure of that system. A simple constriction would cause fluid to flow. Add a one way valve, and those are very easy to evolve, and one has a direction.

I've done that here at least three times. I get ridicule, scorn, and links for answers. Enough reading material to last till Christmas.

So, can you point to specific moments in the video that support the claim that the atheists doing the talking believe that:

"evolution is necessary for [them] to live an amoral lifestyle"

There is no such moment in the video.

I watched and saw the parts where Ray Comfort got ONE guy to admit "I'm lying to myself," and sort of admit that he was dodging ideas/concepts of God in order to continue doing certain things Ray Comfort believes are sinful - like pornography, or sex with his girlfriend... but the reality is that the things Ray Comfort was proposing were the "wrongs" this person wanted to continue participating in cannot be proven to be "wrong" from any perspective except a religious one. In other words, you have to pre-suppose the correctness of your religious views on matters of "pornography" or "sex outside of marriage" in order to conclude that those things are morally wrong. Besides any of that - back to your ridiculous claim - none of this had anything to do with "evolution."

I also have to wonder how many people Ray Comfort had to interview to come up with that guy. I would be willing to bet it was quite a substantial number. I can guarantee that had he interviewed me or any atheist like me, the footage would not have been included in the video... and it wasn't, as is evidenced by the fact that all of the atheists in this video seem to fall into this demure, accepting state when questioned. Extremely unrealistic if Ray Comfort wants to claim this to be representative of the composition of all people self-identifying as "atheist."

You refuse to understand the simple explanations and then ignore the references give to you. The ridicule and scorn that you have received have been well earned by you. If you tried to learn then others would not treat you in a manner that you do not like.

Life is far to short to waste it watching any video done by Ray Comfort.

It's akin to a child plugging their ears and stamping their feet, really. Always a bit surprising to see in an adult.

Not if there is a running commentary by people such as Hugo and Jake. I forgot which poster linked a version of the video with commentary. It makes the unbearable rather entertaining. It can be found earlier in this thread or you could go to YouTube and search for The Bible Reloaded, add in the name Ray Comfort and this video should be in the top ten.

Oh well, some day when you have time on your hands. I usually prefer the shorter videos myself. Ray Comforts shtick gets to be too predictable after a while. I probably did not watch the entire thing even with their efforts. I could not last five minutes through a pure Ray Comfort video. With the help of The Bible Reloaded I probably watched about half of it. Though I do thoroughly enjoy when Hugo and Jake do Chick Tracts. Those are binge worthy creations.

Come winter, when I tired of "Animals are jerks" videos, I might look into it. Maybe...
