My religion is authentic because I don't one. Anything creating divide is not authentic. Strip the religious labeling away from an individual and they are just as me, a human being with a brain, mind, heart, and the same feelings I experience living in the same universe, same earth, same necessities for life, same sun and moon, etc.

Excellent thread, and nice points on 'authenticity'. I did not vote because there is no 'other', and I am a strong atheist as well as a Hindu. Politesse made a very good point about 'wisdom'. Many got likes from me. I will replace the word 'authentic' by 'scientific', and 'Advaita Hinduism' is surely the most scientific.

How do you know your religion is authentic?

There are many other religions out there. What information has convinced you of your beliefs?

Yes, a lot of beliefs. That's a good question.
I know my faith is authentic because of the following :

1.) I had an authentic and infallible inspired Bible (Word of God).
2.) My God is the real God. The God who created humans and the Universe.
3.) God came down by sending His Son Jesus Christ to save me from sin.
4.) There is no one or entity that offered His life for us, suffered and give me hope to receive salvation.
5.) There is no one who could do what Jesus did.
6.) There is no one who died and resurrected like what Jesus did.
7.) I don't cling to an organization, and I dependent on Jesus Christ.
8.) There is no one who can bring my soul to eternity.
9.) Only Jesus who can bring me to his promised eternal life.
10.) The name of Jesus is powerful, and the evil one trembles.
11.) We have no human founder, our founder is Jesus Christ.
12.) I saw God's power in the name of Jesus Christ.
13.) I felt the love of God.
14.) He delivered me from thy enemies (power and principalities)
15.) He first love me, even when I'm sinful.

Knowledge is a very, very specific thing. Most people don't understand how few truths we really know. All that we even can know is empirical knowledge through the senses we have, aka scientific knowledge. This is obviously limited to physical reality though. God, the spiritual dimension or whatever, is definitionally non-physical, and so agnosticism is the only intellectually honest position.

From my heathen perspective, I tried to be historically authentic for the longest time. That was until i had heard the idea that my pagan ancestors mostly didn't do their rituals in such a way because they were obsessed with conserving tradition. On the contrary, they did the rituals as best applied in that setting. If they were more concerned with practicality rather than conservative authenticity, why should I seek to do my rituals impractical to my industrialized environment? Especially considering most ancient pagans would change their rituals to accommodate if they were somehow plopped into our time and place.

I am a tried and true deist.

It is the only "religion" (sigh...) that half way makes any sense. Deists reject divine inspiration, prophets and holy books as those are all man made, unprovable, and tend to contradict themselves at numerous points. We do not believe in supernatural boogeymen, magic, curses or bad juju. Living beings have free will and creation seems too complex to come from random events. That is why we believe in God. Do you really think the United Union of Protozoa and/or the Center For Single Cell Organisms got together millions of years ago, took a vote and decided to "evolve?"

Norman: Study, ponder and prayer and answer from the Holy Ghost, spirit to my spirit. There is no greater witness than the Holy Ghost.

I've been toying with the idea of doing some sort of ritual using Minecraft.

O.K. now PROVE your religion is authentic.
You cannot. Faith defies proof. That don't make a whole lotta sense but it's
all I could come up with.

For those reasons I think the word revival is a better description than reconstruction. Reconstruction smacks of contrivance and inauthenticity vis-a-vis the modern world. At a blót an animal might be offered. In the Viking Age a live animal was sacrificed; there was no way to store an animal carcass. Today if an animal is offered at a blót, we don't need to slaughter an animal... we have refrigerators. We're reviving the practice for today, not reconstructing it because the ancestors had to do it that way.

Atheist here. So, I voted athiesm, assuming that the transposition of two letters preserves semantics, lol.

What information convinced me of my (lack of) belief? One of the answers is in your premise: there are many religions out there.

Dementheology. My religion is true. First, it is based on our Judeo-Christian culture. The chief insight of Dementheology is that God/Satan have a single personality. When God is ( or becomes) Satan, he represents Absolute Amorality and is evil, cunning and wishes to destroy Humans. When he's God, he represents Absolute Morality. He is good, loving and wishes to save Humans.
So God is El. Satan is ha Satan ( did I spell it right). They represent Absolute Evil and Absolute Good. God will save all his Chosen People, people who are disabled. We will free ourselves from the tyranny of Egypt, cross the Red Sea and be free. When it happens, we will accomplish our Long Term Goals. Finally, the AntiProphet and the Last Prophet will go to war. The Most High God will defeat the AntiProphet and we will begin the Golden Age.

The way I came to know that my religion is the the fullness of Christ's true gospel is through reading and praying about a book of Scripture known as the book of Mormon this book has been given to us in these days in order to give people convincing evidence of God's love for us and to help us to know that this is the only true and living church upon the earth .

None of the above. I start with science. Everything outside of that I regard as within the spiritual realm (consciousness, souls, ideas, God, etc). That's all; there's nothing else that can be known. Revealed religions are untrustworthy.

Lol I don't have any clue if my religion is authentic. But it's been helpful, and dare I say fun. Meditation on a particular devi's name keeps me from fearing death for absolutely no discernible reason which is pretty cool, and chanting the names of Isis and Osiris has somehow helped me roll better in D&D. Who knows, it could easily be all in my head. After all, I can only explain my life's experience through my own faulty eyes, can I not? But whatever the case, I feel happy in my wildly mixed-up belief system.
