The avoidability of war

I believe war is something absolutely unnecessary and avoidable.
It's a stage of evolution a civilization goes through. And once a civilization evolves from that stage, they think of war as something absolutely horrific and disgusting.
Something that belongs to the animalistic stage of mankind.

On April 25 and May 8, Italy and Germany, celebrate the end of the war, respectively. A day called Liberation Day.
Liberation from the dictatorship, but especially from the horrors of war and genocide.

I think that my country will never fight a war any more. So it's absolutely scary that someone speaks of war in the 21st century, as if it were possible that a civilization could de-evolve.

War can come from many causes, although one thing that seems common to all wars is human stubbornness and egotistical posturing. It's marked by a refusal to negotiate or compromise - and a refusal to sit down and discuss their differences like reasonable, civilized human beings. The key to warmongering is shutting down the lines of communication.

I consider myself lucky.
Because my people understood the brutality of war, being on the losing side of WW2.
The Russians, being on the winning side, think war is something always positive because it reminds them of victory.
And they still want to fight that war, after one year of bloodbaths.
They have learnt nothing.

I think you are looking at the world through rose colored glasses. To suggest a world without the possibility of war is akin to suggesting a world without the possibility of hatred, evil, or injustice; it will never exist.

It does exist. European countries have never been at war with each other. Since 1945.

War happens when one country attacks another.
The attacker could avoid war by not waging it.
The attacked country has less liberty to choose.
This is because self defense is extremely compelling.
Essentially, you're arguing to avoid war by giving up,
& submitting to an attack. That's unreasonable.

Is this thread about wanting Ukraine to hand over
its country to Putin, so that he can expand his
post-Soviet anti-gay anti-western Christian empire?

What we Italians did in 1943, when the Allies landed in Sicily. When a power is superior, one surrenders.

Ukraine is a fly compared to Russia. It's like Luxembourg wanted to defeat Germany.

War is hardwired in nature. It's impossible to avoid in any permanent sense. However I think its possible for protracted periods of peace between conflicts to lengthen.

Italy sided with Hitler to war against other countries.
But it was indeed wise to accept defeat.

Russia...a large but weak country filled with idiots,
fascists, deluded patriots, nostalgic commies, & too
few honorable people willing to oppose the unjust
war on Ukraine.
The fly is kicking Russian butt.
Tis Russia who should surrender,
for both moral & practical reasons.

The mere notion of war makes me puke.
I recall, as a teenager, there was this NATO base, called Sigonella, which was filled with young American soldiers.
We got along, we were friends. My sister especially.
When things got heated in the ME, I knew some of them had to fly to Iraq. And we didn't know if we would see them again.
The idea that those people, who had become our friends could die in a stupid war that had nothing to do with us, disheartened me immensely. And made me hate war. I'd rather be executed than choose war as a solution.

May I kindly remind you that Russia was fighting against Hitler, too?
Now Russia has become the bad guy?
Come on.
That's illogical.
It doesn't add up. Can't you see that?

...and because Soros sides with Ukrainians.

What a wonderful country that is...brutal murderous socialism,
and siding with Nazis to divide up the world. Now attacking
its neighbors in violent conquest. Russia sucks.
Hitler only lost his luster in Russia when he turned on them.

Ukraine is currently winning it's defensive war against Russia's forces.

So, your point is... that weaker countries should all automatically submit to larger ones, despite any assistance they may receive?

Russia is wicked only if American Eagle says that?

Yes. Believe it or not, a country can be on the right side of one conflict and the wrong side of another conflict.

Unbelievable though it may sound.

That's illogical.

Literally "How can any country that fought against the Nazis possibly subsequently do anything bad??"

So, I guess America can do no wrong, then? So they're right when they support their allies in Ukraine, yes?

Conspiratorial nonsense.
