1. Sometimes. Others offer insight into things about myself that I couldn't see for myself.
2. Sometimes. I've gained some good insight into who I am as a person, and I learn a little more about myself every day.
3. I'm working on it. I actively seek to be the best version of myself that I can be, and since others can see things about me from a third party perspective, and since I learn a little more about myself every day, I'm able to gauge myself better and actualize the kind of man I want to become.
My life is in flux, and that's the best way to be, IMO. The moment I know everything is the moment I lose ambition. The moment I lose ambition is the moment I stagnate. Stagnation is a terrible fate that everyone should fight.
I agree, DNA is amazing — it’s the structural basis of all life, as diverse as it is.
Still, all living things are more than the sum of their parts, considering the intangible factor such as their instinct & drive, not to mention symbiosis between many disparate organisms. Especially human beings, with our consciousness & conscience.
Most animals also possess "consciousness" to some decree, it's not a uniquely human thing.

The Bible says man is the glory of God and the glory of man is woman. I say mans glory is best seen in our:
- Conquering attitude toward all aspects of like, not just militarily.
- Trader: We cooperate like none other. The lamb cannot buy the lion his dinner.
- Toolmaker: No other animal has flown to space, sat on the ocean bottom or any of the myriad of other inventions.
I accept evolution but a parallel path not that we evolved from the animal kingdom as we are the only unique species endowed with rational consciousness, the ability to reason and understand abstract realities.

I no longer accept evolution drives speciation. Lots of new discoveries, such as 4D of information, suggest evolution is more minor, like breeds, adapting to environment.
What is missing from the fossil record is telling. Missing links between nearly every known family of life. Different kinds of butterflies but not too many transitional fossils of butterflies transforming into horses.
We, the naked ape, stopped relying on our hair to keep us warm some time ago. We began to control our micro environment by making tools, shelters, clothing and fire.

I do have dreams of favored pets......in their new forms
but I strongly suspect.....the garden event was intended to INSURE.....
that Man would BE that creature curious .....even as death is the pending consequence
