The Beer Thread

Prince of Dorkness!
I've acquired a taste for Arrogant Bahrstahd Ale (You're Not Worthy!) as well.

A friend just loves Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale (brewed over real witches!) from Black Sheep Breweries.

Me and one of my friends where out late one night and found that. I love it.
I also like some Japanese Beer. The two I like are Kirin and Sapporo.

Although I drink all kinds of beers that get in my way, I have a taste for pale Belgian beers, St Bernardus and Hoegaarden come to mind. I also used to drink McEwan's Scottish ale when they still imported it over here, excellent stuff.

but my favorite beers are home made, there is no comparison between industrialized beer and a good beer brewed by a friend.

I do not drink beer often. Last time was the Munich Oktoberfest where i consumed 3L in about 30 minutes and then threw up everywhere.

Bitburger, Hofbrau... anything German is fantastic :) Have a keg of Bitburger to drink next friday :)

my favorite ale would have to be boddingtons...
other brews I like are, guinness (of course), kiri ichiban, belhaven, fat tire ale, chimay (if you've never tried this one i highly recomend it), and I also enjoy a number of sam adams brews

So...I've always been a hard liquor and wine kinda girl, never really cared much for beer because the junk my friends usually buy is cheap and has no taste or body, imo...But recently I went to a particular bar in Dallas that had a better selection of beers than simply "bud, coors, or miller"...And I think I'm starting to convert. The three I've really enjoyed so far are Chimay, Hoegaarden and Le Fin du Monde :D
I can't wait to go experiment some more :D Unfortunately, I've got to find some friends who don't work the late shift 7 days a week to hang out with...I wish Buttons* was still here :sad4:

Do you have any favorites?

I always seem to ask for a pitcher of Killian's Red when I'm out. Obviously, the entire pitcher is the round of drinks for the table of friends, and not just for me. LOL

*smells Beer Bread*

Almost done!

Peace,
Mystic

I love the Carlo Rossi's sweet red wine and Sol the España wines. But I don't drink that much 'coz I'm still minor;)

Im happy to hear that you have discovered the wonderful world of barely and wheat!

Hoegaarden is a lovely beer, and if you enjoyed it, I recommend a further exploration of pale Belgian beers, such as St Bernardus. German wheat beer can be quite rich in taste as well, for example Frantziskaner beer.
Many types of beers to enjoy.. an organic Hobgoblin can be pretty good.
but when you get the chance, go for a home brewed beer to discover the real richness, taste, and nutrition of beer.

Thank you very much! I'll have to try them :D We have a few bars around the area that have a very wide variety of different beers, ales, etc. I'll get a few friends to go and we shall sample as many as possible ;) I'll make sure to let you know the results :drunk:

I honestly have never been a big fan of any beer. Although... using it in recipies is quite lovely. My parents used to make "drunken chicken", or chicken baked with a filled beer can beneath it. It was quite delicious.

That does come out great.

I've used it in deglazing the fond after pan-frying steak to make some hearty gravies. ;)

Ah Hoegaarden. I can see why I regard you as a friend. When you visit Oz, try Coopers Brewery - Original Pale Ale.;)
