The bible doesn't make sense

Many verses in the bible doen't make any sense which makes me to believe that the bible was corrupted.

Matthew 4
8 Again, the devil taketh him unto an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him
all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 and he said unto him,
All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

On a high mountain he could see the whole world.
The Satan tempted God to worship him
.

Matthew 5
22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother[a] will be
liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council;
and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell[c] of fire.

If you say to your brother "you fool" then the punishment is hell fire

Matthew 5
31 “It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of
divorce.’ 32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife,
except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery,
and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Marrying a divorced woman is an adultery

Will add more verses, please share by adding verses which you think of it to be irrational.

Common translation: I browsed for some verses in the NT online and incidentally Islamic dogma indoctrinated me to believe that the Bible was corrupted. So, Injil verses copy pasted. Which may or may not make sense, which is entirely subjective of course. How did you jump from verses which supposedly do not make sense to you, to the idea that the Bible was corrupted? Perhaps the verses made perfect sense to the crowd who listened to them nearly 2000 years ago? You are prone to believe they were corrupted only because it reaffirms your indoctrination.
And that my friend is closure.

BTW, when are you going to actually quote from the Bible?

Yeah, it's pretty much a pick-and-choose operation. If scripture goes against one's needs or outlook it can be ignored, whereas scripture that conforms to one's belief can be asserted as binding. But this is the neat thing about the Bible and Christianity, it's adaptable to just about any worldview one wishes to embrace. Simply witness all the denominations that have sprung from this single, common source. Such diversity doesn't sprout from rigid, inflexible rootage. This isn't to say the Bible was corrupted, but exemplifies the liberty various translators had in interpreting their sources, which was often dictated by their theological bent.

It doesn't make sense to me, the others of course are free to think otherwise.

Corruption as one probability and not indoctrination.

sure it makes sense....

the men who wrote the bible and who were all for divorce suddenly changed their minds and decided divorce was akin to committing adultery.

That makes sense... men corrupted the bible making the rules even harder for themselves to follow.

When you say "corrupted" that implies that this came from something that was better, or at least less corrupted. So to argue that it is corrupted you need to show not just that it is imperfect, but that there was something better that became corrupted. So do you have any evidence that there was a less corrupted version at some previous point in time?

The right question.

The Muslim understanding goes off of Muhammad's peception of what the odd religious groups living in or traveling through old Arabia said and believed.

It is/was an old cop-out for the explanation of vague and confusing nature and why not everybody sees with my (the correct) interpretation.

This also gave Muhammad the ability to goof up a biblical story or change it intentionally and say any differences are due to biblical corruption.

Let's start with a baseline:

2:67-71:
And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant."

They said, "Call upon your Lord to make clear to us what it is." [Moses] said, "[ Allah ] says, 'It is a cow which is neither old nor virgin, but median between that,' so do what you are commanded."

They said, "Call upon your Lord to show us what is her color." He said, "He says, 'It is a yellow cow, bright in color - pleasing to the observers.' "

They said, "Call upon your Lord to make clear to us what it is. Indeed, [all] cows look alike to us. And indeed we, if Allah wills, will be guided."

He said, "He says, 'It is a cow neither trained to plow the earth nor to irrigate the field, one free from fault with no spot upon her.' " They said, "Now you have come with the truth." So they slaughtered her, but they could hardly do it.
Surat Al-Baqarah - The Noble Qur'an - ?????? ??????

Short version:
- the Jews following Moses have a bright yellow cow
- at first, they can't tell their bright yellow cow apart from their other cows
- then, inexplicably, they're able to tell which cow is the bright yellow one

You're looking for stuff in the Bible more irrational than yellow cows and colour-blindness that turns on and off, right?

Gee, couldn't possibly be that it's not the bible but your inadequate knowledge that's to blame here...

The quran is one of the most corrupt books I have read. The bible...I don't want to waste bandwith discussing how terrible that was.

Please keep on topic as what I am discussing here is the verses of the bible and that what is the OP is all about.

Kindly feel free to open your own thread to discuss the verses of the quran and i'll be glad to share.:)

Anyway let me explain to you the verses which you thought of it to be irrational.

I studied the quran for years to find one specific flaw and I am still looking for it till today, im always skeptical.

The verse is about the challenge between Moses and his people and how ignorants were they as many are today.

When i study the quran I care to find one flaw that contradicts science and knowledge, let me explain to you the verses even though I know that you'll disagree before even I start to explain.

People of Moses challenged Moses and they were mocking him when he asked about the one cow to be slaughtered thinking that they'll let him to give up.

So when he said to them a cow, then in our own language they said " hey man are you kidding, cows are look the same, ask your God how it looks like", so every time they ask, a reply came which makes their job harder and harder and they finally gave up.

The choice of the yellow color is to be discussed in a scientific way to understand its relation with the verses and why it was described as bright and pleased to the eye.

This color relates to acquired knowledge. It is the color which resonates with the left or logic side of the brain stimulating our mental faculties and creating mental agility and perception.

Being the lightest hue of the spectrum, the color psychology of yellow is uplifting and illuminating, offering hope, happiness, cheerfulness and fun.

Yellow is the best color to create enthusiasm for life and can awaken greater confidence and optimism.

The color yellow loves a challenge, particularly a mental challenge.

My friend excuse me that I won't discuss anymore or debate the verses of the quran here but of course you can open a thread to discuss it and I would be glad to share with you, your interesting ideas.:)

As I said, I only brought up the passage to help determine what you consider rational so that I can figure out what you'll find irrational.

I wasn't sure whether I could find anything in the Bible that was more irrational than that Quran passage. I am very sure I can't find anything in the Bible that is more irrational than your explanation.

You are entitled to your own opinion.

You find the quran verses as irrational whereas I see the bible verses to be meaningless and I believe that it was corrupted.

No need to be nervous, we are only debating here and I don't believe that my opinions will hurt your own belief.

What I understand that you believe that the quran is more irrational than the bible and I disagree with you, unless you can prove it in scientific way than bla..bla..bla
