disseminated by our own news media, particularly during the
last 4 years. Suppose Iran had seized all those websites,
or sabotaged all those media. How would our government
have reacted?
Teeth would gnash.
Sabers would rattle.
Threats would abound.
Assets would be seized.
Embargoes would be enhanced.
And perhaps bombs would be loosed upon them.

Note: Our military does have actual plans in place
for a ground invasion of Iran. They're detailed to
the extent of engineering specifications for
specialized equipment, eg, mortar towing vehicles.

The USA no doubt has many enemies who are extremists, and the difference between groups is well understood by security experts. The lay person like me has little knowledge of all the extremist groups out there. Citizens want security. But even in the USA we have about 40% of citizens who vote for conservatives, and we know these conservatives are very aggressive against Muslims.

So we are a world of tribes and some members want conflict. That is Muslims of all stripes and people in the West of all stripes. There is no simple solution, and no one wants to be the chump who agrees to peace.
