The earth is 13,000 years old and it is soon to be renewed when Christ comes

I guess I needed to be a bit more clear...

Reread Abraham 4.
You can't read chapter 4 without first reading chapter 3.

We pick and choose what we're willing to accept and choose to ignore the rest.

How can you read Abraham 4 without first reading Abraham 3, which gives an explanation of what "time" is and how God compares his reckoning of time, with ours.

Abraham 3: 4
And the Lord said unto me, by the Urim and Thummim, that Kolob was after the manner of the Lord, according to its times and seasons in the revolutions thereof; that one revolution was a day unto the Lord, after his manner of reckoning, it being one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that (EARTH) whereon thou (ABRAHAM) standest. This is the reckoning of the Lord’s time, according to the reckoning of Kolob.

I inserted (EARTH) and (ABRAHAM) for better clarification as to what this scripture is referring to.

Kolob is nearest to the planet where God dwells, and the time is the same, which is a ratio of 1 day (God's planet/time) to 1000 years (our planet/time).

This scripture reinforces this teaching.

2 Peter 3: 8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

FFH, it has been scientifically proven over and over and over that the Earth is around 4.5 billion years old. If you must insist on remaining willfully ignorant in your own life could you at least do us the favor of not perpetuating these falsehoods and lies to other people?

wrong, the materials used to create the earth are 4.5 billion years old.

it's just like the "old shed" theory. you have a shed that is 100 years old, then you dismantle it and reuse the wood to create a doghouse, the some scientist comes along 20 years later and says the doghouse is 120 Years old when it fact it's only 20.

What process exists that could take materials that old and then rearrange them into the much younger planet Earth while leaving the geological record intact?

the Term "Day" in the bible as we know it comes from a hebrew word that means "a space of time from beginning to end" and translates into our current languages as "day" being the closest term.
But it is quite specific in saying one morning and one evening, making up a day, for all 6 days.

Do you call a morning 500 years and evening another 500 years.

That's rubbish. It doesn't matter how you put it. Evening is evening. Morning is morning. And day is a day. There's no 100, 1000, a million or a billion years mention anywhere in Genesis.

Beside all that, the verse that FFH continued to quote, is more a metaphor than actual comparison of a single day in 1000 years, from a supposed book of Abraham, written by a supposed LDS prophet. And there is no mention of Abraham verse 3:4 that relate this to the creation.

The pattern is clear.

6 days/6,000 years the Lord labored to create this earth and everything in it.
1 day/1,000 years the Lord rested from all his labors.

6 days/6,000 years man has labored on this earth, since the fall of Adam and Eve.
1 day/1.000 years we will rest from our labors when Christ returns to renew this earth and set up his kingdom.

Book of Moses (Genesis chapters 1-13 restored)

Moses 2: 1 (compare to Genesis 1:1 King James version)

And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto Moses, saying: Behold, I reveal unto you concerning this heaven, and this earth; write the words which I speak. I am the Beginning and the End, the Almighty God; by mine Only Begotten I created these things; yea, in the beginning I created the heaven, and the earth upon which thou standest.

If this were literally true, then you do realize that you would need to discredit every major work of science to make this so.

You're accusing ME of cherry-picking?! My gosh man, you really have done off the deep end!

In Abraham 4 it DOES NOT refer to the creation period as DAYS, it calls them TIMES!! How much more clear can I get?

Do yourself a favor and stop reading things into the scriptures. Once you've done that, do us all a favor and stop passing such nonsense off as fact.

I've tried going down that road with FFH. Save your sanity and give up now :)

FFH AND madhatter, PLEASE check with your local community college for an Earth Science class. You are in desperate need of some education in this field. Until you have any clue as to what you are talking about I suggest not saying anything about said topic as you only make yourself look foolish and uneducated. YOU ARE WRONG. I know you are too stubborn to see that, but it is the absolute truth of the matter. If you are unwilling to fix your skewed point of view to a more educated and RIGHT stance, then please have the courtesy not to inflict your deluded ideas on the rest of us as we are growing incessently tired of trying to set you straight. YOU ARE WRONG.

Which is fine except that science doesn't state that the materials that make up the Earth sprang into existence at the point of becoming the Earth. In fact, those materials existed for a good deal longer and the dating process does not date when they were created but when they formed the Earth.

So in your analogy, these dating techniques when applied to the doghouse would give a figure of 20 years, not 120 years.

God has revealed to me an earth of at least millions of years. Oh, and I am not special. The same revelation is known to all Vaisnavas. We also have information that people used to live around 1,000 years but that the longevity has decreased in this age. And if we go by the Bhavishya Purana, Adam and Eve were not the very first humans on earth ever.

You'll have to forgive me if I find educated scientists of modern day more credible than the bronze age goat herders who authored the bible. There would be no grand canyon (took millions of years to form) and very little starlight (some take millions of years for the light to reach us) if the world was only 6000 years old or whatever.

Oh no! Didn't you know? The Grand Canyon was made that way with materials that would read old in order to test our faith...and the light from the stars was put as already in motion so that we could have beautiful starlight from the beginning. Don't you know anything? :sarcastic:sarcastic:sarcastic :areyoucra

Well, in the event "Jesus" doesn't come perhaps we should worry more about caring for the Earth so we have a place to live in the mean time, what do you think?

I'm afraid it's rather too late for me. I've visited one too many topics of FFH and found myself trap in his insanity. I've been arguing with brick wall and I didn't realise it. :banghead3 So:-
  • I've flip my lid.
  • I've lost my marble. :bonk:
  • I've gone ape! :monkey:
If I was a god-fearing guy, I would say, "Heaven help MMEEEEEE!" :foot:
