Bears do something similar, but I do not know the word for it

Staring silently at someone while they eat, perhaps in hope that they run away screaming in terror leaving the food behind

I never knew a bear with that much self-control when a pickanick basket...or a pickanicker...was nearby...

There is a reason for that......we generally never get the chance to do it...people run away almost immediately...if not sooner...when a bear shows up...that and bears don't have the patience for it anyway
