I tried medications, but they basically made one part or another of my various related symptoms to flair up. Except the ones that don't, but the don't really help me much. So I quit taking meds. But things started becoming somewhat more predictable and stable after that. I've hit a point where most the time my biggest gripe is heart burn, and I'm munching on Tums throughout the day.

I don't usually take the medicine myself. Only when I think I absolutely could use the help. Going vegetarian has helped me in other areas like my mental health, I suppose.

Looks like my mouth and my bowels are gonna have to have words.

not wanting to call you a loser....at this moment.....even though you are....

I 've swallowed my fair share of calcium
seems the stomach has a limited defense mechanism.....more acid

if you are consuming preserved meat and vegetables.....reduce it
go fresh
cook more
cut the sugar

some items like azodicarbonamide are used to preserve bread
but disrupt the natural balance of microbes in your stomach and gut
you get heartburn
you get bloating
you get ill

read the fine print....drop the high fructose corn syrup
good luck on that

Apparently you missed the recent posts where, in ecstatic detail, Shadow describes consuming some of the hot chili foodstuffs that have been consumed recently...

There was an old man with the flu,

When each time he sneezed, his nose grew.

For the rest of his days
He was always amazed--

He could smell the flowers in Peru!

Bread doesn't bother me. But once I developed IBS I couldn't drink milk anymore, and I can only eat small amounts of dairy.
And with IBS there is no catch all "do this and it will get better." Some have to go on more restrictive and specialized diets, some don't. Some get heartburn, some don't. Different things can trigger different people in different ways, if at all. About the only trends among different people afflicted with it is our bowels are easily irritated, there's a spectrum of irritants that some people will have to avoid while others won't, and there is a spectrum of symptoms that some will have that others won't. Carbonated beverages are another one that some people will have to avoid them, while others will have no problems with them. With IBS, a food journal is your best friend to avoid triggers, because not even your doctor will be able to tell you what to avoid.
