It was early (by my standards, anyways) but I can verify it was not dark.
Chances are, as I seem to be finding, just assume it's too bright and too much sunshine here and we don't get enough moonshine in our daily regiment.

I won big today by getting about 75-80 dollars worth of hardback books for 3 dollars.
I also noticed there was no sales tax on them here. I don't know if that's because I got them from Goodwill, and California doesn't require such a place to collect taxes, but Goodwills in Indiana definitely charged sales tax and here they don't seem to.

And I win, period, because my new home is so awesome. It's a good thing Mary Shelley Wollstonecraft didn't set Frankenstein here, because I don't think Victor's creation would have attracted enough hatred to make that story into the tragedy that it is.
If Indiana were this laid back, socially progressive, and contained such a live and let live mentality I doubt I would have felt like strangling doctors, teachers, Christians, and the pages of other groups of people who routinely pissed me off there. I've gotten no "****ing ***" type of glares from people here, met a guy who gives not one **** about me being trans, and there is the lack of gay-and-trans bashing Confederate flag waiving "Good 'Ole Boys" to worry about here. Real gang territory with real gangs to be mindful of, but they just don't have enough churches here to pump out the "harassers from God" like Indiana can.

For now. I have to leave for Bako in about 90 minutes to get to the work meet spot to ride in a company van all the way to Santa Barbara. And then after a few hours at the store it will be all the way back to Bako, then for me all the way back to Porterville.
I pronounce myself dead upon arrival when I get back to my hosts' house tomorrow.
It is when I finds an appreciative home for a common one, and buys me a rare one which enhances the collection in me favorite building at the museum.
