Sitting around waiting for a builder to drop by, I would not be going anywhere but it's still annoying me having to wait for him.

We had the same problem with a wood delivery, you cannot pin a Frenchman down to a time. Closest we could get was "après-midi" (afternoon). Typically he turned up just as i started preparing shepherds pie.

I got, "I'll probably be there tomorrow if ya gonna be about".

Good point, if they're English then they're doing it right, it's their language, it's everyone else who has an accent.

I lived in Lancashire and have a pronounced central Lancashire accent (speaking french can be hilarious). I had trouble understanding Scouse (the Liverpool accent) even thought i only lived about 30 miles from Liverpool. Go 30 miles the other way and you get a broad east Lancashire accent which is closer to the Yorkshire accent.

Sounds about right. At least you don't have "au normalment" which roughly translates to if everything is normal and nothing else turns up to distract me i will definitely be there on...

We estimate it to be a 6 week window around the date the artisan says he will definitely be here "au normalment'

Or in Arabic "Inshallah" which can be wackally translated as "If I don't show up, it was Allah's will that I was not there"
