In the uk the word cowboy is used to describe a dodgy tradesman.

A word from my kneck of the woods (central Lancashire) is "arfa" sounds like arthur but is contraction of the term arf a job (half a job)

Around here, "cowboy" usually refers to someone who works on a cattle ranch.

My oldest is technically a Mechanical engineer...but he going for his PhD and mostly plays in the water trying to pass it off as fluid dynamics.... Ya old stale pile of lumber
