It's crazy. I started off buying a 2 bedroom unit for $67.5k with the money the railway paid me when I was medically retired in 1998, then 24 years and 3 moves latter it's turned into $850. Better than a bank or the stock market.
I won't talk about the house and 6 acres that I bought in the 80's for $79k and gave to the ex Mrs -.-
