Hippy....I never let it get past my mid back.... and I got a biannual haircut...with associated beard and moustache trimming....but I was not yet married.....
No beard. A beard for me looks like a strap to hold my hair on.

I did recently start a moustache. Haven't had one in 37 years and then only briefly.

I have had the moustache for about 40 years. Took a year off when I made deal with Mrs Wu...but she did not keep her end of it...so.... back it came. The beard came off 30 years ago.

There are certain jobs where the dress code and hair/beard issues are very flexible.

it was when I got into security and started looking into law enforcement the hair got cut...short...much to the surprise many people I knew back then...even my future ex-wife

Those tend to be jobs where they expect a certain clean cut look. Unless you're undercover.

Divorce. Money was tight at the time and there was no one to complain. I'd never had long hair before, so I thought what the heck and let it go.

I had no idea what a pain in the butt it is to have long hair.

When I finally got it cut off it was down to just above my beltline. It looked like they had killed a geriatric squirrel and left the carcass on the floor behind me.

I think if you google "mid life crisis" you will find this as a description.

When I had mine, I did not buy a red sports car, did not have a fling with a young woman and did not grow my hair long. What I did do was get my ears pierced after seeing some rockers on MTV with both ears done.
