Never had them. They almost sound like southern catfish. They can get big, but the ones that I have had tended to be the smaller commercially grown ones. The big ones are sometimes caught using a technique called "Noodling". It almost sounds like a technique that an Aussie would use. You could look it up, or I could give you some links. That is one way of fishing that I will probably not ever do.

I've seen noodling on TV, we've evolved past that.

I was thinking more along the lines of a "Good old boy" but I do not know the proper Australian slang. If he was not so angry he might be an appropriate candidate:

Excellent. Take a look at this guy, he even has a mullet. Now you tell me that he would not stick his fingers under a rock and "noodle" them if he thought that he could catch one of these:

This guy has paid the price, I hear it is common with noodling:

I doubt the bogan could bend over enough, even if he could he'd spill his beer and get his good t-shirt muddy, so no.

Oh, this is why Australians do not go noodling for catfish. This poor man seems to be embarrassed by his catch and I do not blame him:

I guess it is the same reason that you do not hear us brag about our kangaroos:

Though they do seem seem to hold their own against venomous snakes:

Trying to communicate with my wife via text is almost impossible, trying to communicate when she uses speech to text is impossible.
