My software was from BOS National,
a British company. (No IBM software.)
It allowed me multi-user multi-tasking
back in the 80s. The property managing
software I used (PMS) ran on nothing else.
But it was portable, & ran on IBM, Apple,
& DEC computers. I currently run it as
a DOS app under Windows 98 Release 2.
(Won't run on later Windows.)
I have no support for my software or
BOS operating system.

Is it still in warranty?

I loath cruises, the entertainment is 3rd rate holiday camp style, you are forced to commune with people you probably don't like, any ports you stop at are limited in time before the ship sails again. and although the food looks beautiful it's often a pig with lipstick.

I hope you fare better

We went on one 10 years ago for 10 year wedding anniversary and she wants to relive the magic for our 20 year anniversary. We have very different recollections of the trip, she tells everyone how great it was and I recall 90% of time we spent in the cabin, her watching TV and me sitting on the balcony trying to spot sea birds because there was absolutely nothing else on board that interested me. I hate the way the staff are treated, they're modern day slave boats. Because they go into international waters there's no minimum wage or regulated working conditions. And the way entitled fat rich Australians treated them was disgusting. The only good thing on our trip was the food, I never had a bad meal but unfortunately that was also ruined by fat, rich Australians, they would pile their plates with food then eat maybe a quarter of it.

But the good news is last night she has decided to put New Zealand on the back burner and instead just do a 3 day cruise up the coast and back. Probably because she's feeling guilty after spending a small fortune on an emerald ring. I should be able to survive 3 days without too much trauma. If I work on it I might be able to talk her into a lunch cruise up the Hunter River.

You had good food, I'm jealous.

scaredy cat..technology passed you by...left you in the dust
Modern tech has its advantages.
I'm considering using U-Haul self storage
management software. But what I have
isn't internet dependent...which has
advantages & disadvantages.

Decades ago my wife and I took a cruise around the Virgin Islands on a schooner (image below). We had fun. For example, the captain said at one point he was bored of going on the same route and would we like to sail to St. Croix instead. Sure. Would we raise sails at about midnight? Yes. Most of the people on the cruise were interesting including one lady who had been a travel agent and arranged tours into an area where the head hunters had decided that tourist dollars were more interesting than tourist heads. I did a bit of scuba diving (shallow waters, almost no instruction). Fond memories. (Gigantic cruise ships are something else). It was a winning experience.

My experience with cruising is a canoe and camping on gravel bars.
