Liverpool, could have been kidneypool bit it just doesn't have the same ring to it. And strangely its pronounced lyver building although Liverpool is pronounced how it's spelled. I never could grasp the vagaries of the Scouse accent
I take it that it is pronounced with a long "i" then? I would not know how to say "lyver".

Last night we were watching an episode of (British) Antiques Road Trip where one of the pair competing had a thick Scot's accent was talking with an Irishman with a thick Irish accent. I got more of the words of the Scotsman and my wife the opposite.

I win by having no accent at all, of course, since everyone knows that everyone else has an accent.

You ain't scouse. Try lie-ver building and liv-er-pool, sounds close enough to me

Scouse explained.

I was raised about 35 miles from Liverpool and i canna understan it.

I'd like to see a conversation between a Scouser and someone from the backwoods of Arkansas.

Of course you have an accent. And i win for knowing this...

All Americans have an American accent

There was a time when i could place Americans to within 50 miles (or so) of where they were raised. I was pretty proficient at it, it earned me lots of points when fishing for a contract.
