Do you usually fly or do you sometimes drive the trip?

I've driven in the past but the traffic between Folkstone and as far up as Stafford area is bloody awful. Much less stressful to fly and hire a car at the destination.

And it's much faster flying, half a day compared to 2 days.

It's just a nuisance when the plane is at 6:30 am, with 2 hours check in, returning the hire car, travel to the airport means getting up at 3am

Still home before 11am is good

I'm not a fan of flying either. It's not really the flying part, though. It's just the airport hassles, security checkpoints, airlines with poor service. But if I could just fly, that would be okay.

May have to work on this idea a bit.

Surprisingly airport security both ways was a doddle this time. Last time i went through with opium* in my case all hell let loose. This time i showed my prescription along with my passport, no problems.

As for poor airline service, the one i fly with (the only one available) is renowned for poor service so it's expected

Actually it's not a whatever of opium, it's a paracetamol tablet with 10% opium but it still sets off the drug detector

It hasn't hit the 100° mark yet, but it probably will soon. There's a 1% chance of rain. According to the forecast, there will be a 9% chance of rain at 4p. Trying to guess whether it's going to rain is like betting on a longshot at the races.

We usually get better odds. Today it's 0%, tomorrow 95% in the morning and 100% in the afternoon

Usually, this is the time of year when we get our summer rains, but it's been dry as a bone up until now. The ten-day forecast is a bit more promising, so we'll see.
