One cutter is round, when I opened the box, it will only cut hair that is 1/2 inch long.

How much hair does fossilised wood have? You'd be better off investing in a moss cutter.
I've got one of those multiple-purpose trimmers that will cut a lot of hair much more quickly than I realized. Fortunately, it was just my sideburns. I haven't had sideburns in over 40 years, so I wasn't too worried.
The one's on TV ads make me hungry...
