Wait, is the shape of the nose a deciding factor in civilized-ness?

I'm confused

Just the flow of discussion: the idea was that the Anglo-Saxons were/are beautiful but contributed nothing to civilization, and that the Greeks were/are ugly but created civilization. I was disputing that.

The nose is the biggest, greatest, most @#$%^-est... etc. factor in my taste of facial beauty, then come other features but not even close to the importance of the nose. That is why I'm attracted to anime girls more :D

Exactly my point. ^_^

Gotta hand it to the Aztecs, Compulsory education, free at the point of delivery was a pretty advanced idea. Might not count as ancient, though...
Them not being ancient is why I didn't mention the Aztecs and Mayans.

I've been in Egypt, and I wouldn't pick it ahead of the Greeks or the Romans.

Honey, I've never said that. I insist on saying that Jews were masculine and too machistas, that's true. But they were very civilized and refined; in fact the magnificence of the Jerusalem temple proves it.

If I were to describe Greeks and Romans, I would say:

Greeks: very intelligent, imaginative, creative, but ugly as carcasses. And most of them lustful homos. With long hideous noses and geometric-shaped faces. Take a look at Cleopatra's nose

Romans: tawdry uncool and tough boors, but very cute, with green eyes and brown hair.

A) I'm still not your Honey. Kindly stop referring to me in a patronizing manner.
B) You're western-centric
C) Still obsessed with the Jews
D) "lustful homos" shows your ignorance of ancient greece
E) Everything you have written shows an ignorance of the very concept of civilization and the problems with it all wrapped up into one.

I didn't realize the Mayans stretched that far back. So, yeah, they are definitely one of the most advanced and civilized cultures of ancient history then.

Not sure if you can call a civilization most advanced and civilised that got stuck in the stone age and never advanced beyond it.

Technology wise every ancient civilisation was superior.
They were calendar nerds, but thats about it.

Stone tools.

And were able to use those stone tools in ways that we Eurasians could never have fathomed, having been spoiled by metals for so long.

It's not the technological sophistication present that's important; it's the way the technology present is utilized that makes all the difference.

Stone tools.
Farming, art, team sports, calendar, irrigation, there was alot to the Mayan empire. And really, stone tools seem primitive, but it's almost entirely a lost art reserved for hobbyist and dedicated historians, and it's alot harder than it looks.

Of course its somewhat remarkable that they made everything what they made with rather primitive tools but at the same time its rather sad as it shows that they were doomed to be conquered and subdued.

It simply shows how they werent advancing and thats bad.
