Typically, gov't workers don't care because they get paid the same whether they help you or not.
I've seen that equally in private business, especially in big corporations where some people sit and twiddle their thumbs for months on end and no one cares. I've also be 'treated' to assaultive responses to requests because some petty business bureaucrat takes it on him/herself to lord it over me secure in the knowledge that being nasty does not count on a performance review.

I've also dealt with genuinely helpful people who are government employees but take it as their duty to do their best.

Small business is typically different which is why I classify the problem as bigness not government vs business bigness.

Psychiatrists and psychologists in the private sector want you to keep coming back so they can keep collecting your money, though, dont they? Doesn't that mean they are more likely to treat you better?
Not in my experience. People you deal with don't care about the corporation because the corporation treats them like unfortunate expenses in many cases. We used to laugh when senior management told us that the profit of the company depended on us because we would not see one penny of that profit but instead would see outsourcing, benefit take-aways, wage freezes, layoffs and the like. What goes around comes around.

Goodnight RF wherever you are
RF is here. It is there. It is with you in the morning. It is with us all as we sleep. It surrounds us, and can probably penetrate us. Anywhere you go on this Earth, RF will be there with you.
And so will pornhub.

Speaking as a Government worker... you would be surprised how many of us actually do care... and how tired many of us get banging our head against the wall
Problem is the many who don’t.
Bigger problem is the many who are evil.

Being on the other side of this I do know what you are talking about, but it is not as many as you think and there are times it all comes from frustration. But I do wholly admit, like any place of work, there are nasty, mean and slothful folks as well

Okay, I owe you and government workers an apology. I shouldn't have implied that all government workers typically don't care.

I apologize.

Apology not excepted...so a mauling we will go...ok...I'm not really upset...it is just I am in the mood for a good ole fashion bear mauling :D

if their pay is directly related to how they treat you, perhaps...as Sunrise points out, that's more likely in smaller operations than in larger, regardless of sector.

But in all sectors, whether the organization is large or small, some (maybe even most) people really do care about the customers/clients/employees/etc., and want to do good...but of course, there are others who only care about themselves...

Actually, unless they are completely private and do not take any insurance, they have to work with a client to formulate a treatment plan that includes goals and what the client wants from therapy, and the clinician has to occasionally submit progress reports concerning the client. And, even then, in private practices that accept no insurance, long term therapy isn't the goal for most.
Myself, I see one of my therapist every 6 to 8 weeks basically just to check in so he can assess my treatment progress and where I'm at and how I'm doing, and my other therapist I see about every other week because she works with me on things like communication skills and navigating social situations.

Back when I was treated for depression I saw a psychiatrist 3 or 4 times, then he sent me for treatment by a psychiatrist specializing in psychiatric medicines. It took a while for them to get my prescription right (something that works with no bad side effects) but eventually they did. I still take the same prescription and I am not depressed anymore. If I stop taking the meds though I get angry easily and scold people, very out of character for me.

I feel like crap today. Does anyone know if it's literally possible for your sinuses to get so congested they pop and have gallons of mucus come gushing out?

They don't pop. The mucus coming out is a good thing, your body is trying to rid itself of an irritant somewhere in your respiratory tract.

I'm starting to feel some resentment towards me dad. Monetarily he provided when I was a child, but physically and emotionally he was absent. Then he just left one night. Fast foward a bit, my parents did remarry after their divorce. Fast forward to today, I wake up, go pee, and don't even get one step out of the bathroom and he's wanting me to get him some coffee. Anytime he needs something done on a computer (most often the problem is his cheap/junk Biglots wireless keyboard/mouse and he nor my mom wanting to accept that crap is so cheap/crap quality it's a waste of money) or his phone, and he's hollering for me to take care of it. Honestly, I feel like I've been there way more for him than he was ever there for me, and it feels nothing more than obligatory that I help him.

I know. It does, however, feel like they might pop at any moment now, and that it might actually bring much relief like when you need to vomit and feel much better after you do.
