If bacteria and viruses were not dangerous then people would not be grossed out so easily, and we'd eat ice cream from the same spoon without complaining ever.

And then we would not get food poisoning from UNCLEAN milk shake makers...like I did in Gloucester about 4 years ago...

Yeah right...there is no such thing...because if there were...somewhere in there would be a commandment that said "thou shalt not be a staggering, soused, fetid Scot who sticks his arm in toilets.....
That's the 11th Commandment.
But I'm a heathen, so I don't observe it.

Another day - cloudy skies with a chance of rain (yay), a serious Intel hardware flaw, a new cute puppy at the dog park and the usual at RF. Can it be better than this?

The latest Silicon Valley mania is "raw water". I think Darwin has it in for Silicon Valley especially the libertarians who think they can do whatever they like with no consequences. (The smelly no-true-libertarian Scotsman is excluded from the list of true libertarians.)

Not sure I would call that a culinary vista
I'm talking about evo. If germs weren't bad, then we'd be like dogs and cats about it. We'd be able to eat stuff that we find repulsive now -- like crickets and worms and raw crab. On the other hand we probably wouldn't work so hard to invent wonders like ice cream, so food overall would not be as good -- but we wouldn't know it, so we wouldn't care, and we could clean ourselves with our tongues.

Or we could still find these things repulsive and still not eat them....don't believe me...just go to Southern China and look at some of the things hey eat...or Beijing's night market..... I would not eat over half of the things you can get to eat there.....

I appreciate your lack of specificity.

I'm pretty sure the reason people acquire a taste for those foods is that they are very hungry and in need of protein, but I'm sure its fun to eat it in front of other more squeamish people, too.

Well, there is a Weather Bomb Cyclone on the way...but I am on the edge of it. If things don't change I will be getting 1 to 3 inches. However on the coast it is likely going to be like what it was in Massachusetts in 1978 when I lived there and one hit. Just got a call from the oldest...the "I'm 20,and an engineering major so I know what I'm doing" oldest...he has decided to head to NYC later this afternoon.... NYC...the major city in the cross hairs of the Weather Bomb Cyclone"...gonna stay with friends...was not even aware there was a storm coming and now that he know...doesn't seem to care...... last words...he'll see us in a week..... alreasdy told him to leave no, not later....but he needs to go to the gym first...... told him I hope he gets there safely, but he should count on being stranded....he'll be ok.... he'll take the trains...and buses..... that likely will not be running either

Here what is going to happen if there is a problem.... I will be getting a call...likely early in the morning wanting to know what to do and asking for help.......

I appreciate your lack of specificity.

Many insects, mammals and some seafoo we do not consider food here in the West. As a woman from Guangzhou once told me about Chinese southerner's eating habits..."We eat anything with legs...except for tables and chairs"

Was with my wife on Wangfujing in Beijing and she was telling me who Southerners eat weird food.....as she was eating, what I can only describe as, sparrows on a stick.
