I am so sad, my beloved computer has died spectacularly, smoke and sparks and puppy dogs tails. I loved that machine and it's gone to computer heaven.

My oldest computer (the main one in my business) just turned 21 this year.
It can legally drink now!

Btw, I customized the tower case with jagged holes painted to look charred.
It suggests both of the hard disks exploding.
Condolences on your machine.
Did it live a good life?

I've got a couple of overheating laptops that I've made poor attempts at repairing. I need to open them up again to give it another try. Its not like they're any use now anyway. I suspect that what I missed the first time was checking the cooling tube for a blockage in one of them. The other one...maybe I put too much paste on the cpu, or maybe I damaged something when I opened it. They've always run hot even when new, so...who knows for sure? Maybe its the GPU's that are overheating.

Thank you for the heartfelt condolences, i appreciate them ;-)

She was a beast that worked very hard, uncomplainingly doing more than any self respecting computer should be expected to do for more than 4 years of whizzing away those multiple and tricky 3d quadratic and imaginary equations, mapping and texturing before retirement to pastures french.

In her younger days she was as powerful as any mainframe, and needed to be, the four, four core i5 processors would chew and spit out all i could feed her

She came along to join us in our retirement so for the last 5 years it has been nothing more arduous as the odd spread sheet and letter, a little translation and children's homework projects. The poor thing has been invaluable since the lockdown.

She can never be replaced, it would be overkill to try,

But with luck the twin PNY graphics cards can be salvaged before she is laid to rest in the local dechetterie (for your enlightenment déchetterie translation English | French dictionary | Reverso)
