It did not take much for me to go on a rant. This was sufficient

It's cute how some people think there different brand clothes and shoes and perfumes make them a unique individual.
I gag every time I hear someone speak of being a "free spirit," because odds are very good they look, act, and behave just like the other apes they've known and encountered.

But under capitalism, one gets to choose where one drones.
There's also the choice of being the one herding the drones.
If you're lucky enough.
In Indiana the pickings were very slim. Especially once I couldn't work on my feet anymore.
And with my degree I could have worked where I did, directly for child services, or for a faith based organization. I don't really consider those options.
And not everybody can pack up, abruptly end their life in one state and begin in another.
And here I have not only more places to choose from for the same career, there are also many other opportunities outside of that that do not exist in Indiana.

If you choose a degree in something so limited, this is still your
choice. Moving from one state to another is easy. I've done it.
Just load up the pickup, drive where you want, & look for work.
Hey....you did it too!

I didn't have anything tying me down, and no one else to consider. So it was nothing for me to pick up and move.
And just trust me when I say it's Indiana in general. That state loses about half of its college grads, with the biggest loss being about 75% of engineer grads leaving. The reason being is that state has so very few opportunities that we leave and can make more and have more and do better in damn near any other state.

More examples of the freedom capitalism offers,
ie, one may move to greener pastures without
the state interfering.

One overhead an witnessed an interesting conversation a group of Marylin Manson fans were having. They were talking about how Marylin Manson gave them the power to be an individual and stand out from the crowd.....the interesting bit was they all looked alike and all closely resembled Marylin Manson

No doubts.
Like a death metal concert where no amount of chains, skulls, black, leather, or spiked up hair will make you stand out because everyone more or less looks like that.

The states don't get to say no.
It's not a command economy.
I'm sure lots of people have said that about a great many things the state has said no to. Constitutionally the government isn't supposed to legally spy on us, but we know they have been at least since the PATRIOT act. Legally I know the cops where I used to live couldn't search some people they did under they circumstances they did, but they did it anyways.
If the state wants to say no, it says no and has the legal authority and power to enforce that no.

I too oppose such surveillance.

Well I've had enough of touchy people (that I instigate) and grammar police that I hate.

And they do it regardless the economy.
TSA is another example. We are made to suffer them as they harass, molest, and steal from us.
We are not protected from unwarranted search and seizures without probable cause when it comes to per-employment drug screening and random drug screening.
Involuntary servitude still legally exists in this country.
Eminent domain is violated here-and-there.
It doesn't matter the economy, the state will do what it wants to do.
