I discovered earlier today that I'm growing a lot of hair on my back. :D
You're growing it, and I'm about to start loosing it. Next week I go in for a consolation of laser hair removal to get rid of the hair on my face. I'm really hoping I can do laser anyways, because it's a helluva lot cheaper and easier than electrolysis.

Awesome! Best of luck to you!

I don't really know what the difference between laser hair removal and electrolysis is, though.

Electrolysis is 100% hair removal, and requires hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars. Laser technically only reduces it, but after the initial 6-8 treatments you only need the occasional touch up once every few years. I may pursue electrolysis later, but right now my beard is so thick that I have a shadow right after I shave and being able to qualify for laser (you typically need darker hair (browns and blacks) and lighter skin) that a massive reduction would be something not just going good for me once, it would be fantastic! I'd save a bunch of time, money, and pain.

Ah, I see. Too bad you can't just donate your follicles to me. :D

I wonder if there would be a market for brain transplants among trans men & women? This would avoid the medical complexities of altering one's body to suit one's mind...just swap brains!

There would be complexities, eg, a someone who is a 10 would likely want the new body to also be a 10. Some might trade up or down for a boot. ("Boot" is a term for money contributed in a trade.)

I love the VA.

I applied last year to have my rating reviewed after 19 years and significant deterioration of my knee. I submitted the records, had my VA doctors fill out the forms, and everything had been accepted and was under review. I was given a projected decision date of between February and June of this year. Yesterday I logged into the system, and found that they now want to do additional exams of my knee, and the new window is between December and June of next year.

I try really hard to keep the big picture in mind and understand that the system is huge and slow because it is processing so many veterans, but I'm getting close to hitting "rant and rave" mode.

I'll rant with you. Because the troops stick their necks out for the government, regardless of the reasons, the government should make sure the troops are well taken care of.

I've also been in the mood to rant myself how a focus on private sector health care and fiscally conservative state policy both let me go without the knee treatment I needed, until there were no other options left but for the state's insurance plan to "conditionally" accept me.

I still have a prototype bone saw which I made at Black & Decker. So if you want cheap knee surgery, I can handle it. I'll use lacquer thinner as a germicide, & here's my anesthetic....

I thought about changing my major to pop-culture studies, because I could still do almost all of the same stuff I want to do anyways, but it would give me a broader range of options for teaching. But then I realized that there aren't many universities that offer such a program, and a huge chunk of them are in conservative areas, even the Canadian universities with those programs. So I decided I will stick with anthropology because I want to get away from conservative lands, not get deeper into them.

My husband, although a 20-year veteran of the Navy, will not have anything to do with the VA.
