My husband, although a 20-year veteran of the Navy, will not have anything to do with the VA.
Unfortunately I have no choice.

I have ACL damage and tri-compartmentalized arthritis in my right knee due to an injury I received in the Marines almost 20 years ago.
Because it is a service-connected disability, private medical insurance will not pay for treatment, and I can't afford to pay for it out of pocket.

You guys ought to switch with me. It was in the late 80s here in sunny San Diego County. Too hot. I like winter so I can cool off from the 100+ temperatures we have here, but there is no winter here this year. Depressing.

Yeah, I know. A friend of mine's son has finally gotten approved for a new hip at the VA after asking for it for 10 or so years. This man was also Navy.

I had a quiz on Nietzsche tonight, but my car wouldn't start, and I have absolutely no idea why. Any relative parts to my problems, which my car just is not starting (battery, engine noise, everything else is ok), have all been recently replaced, so it shouldn't be them.
It's going to be nice moving into a city so I won't have to be so dependent on a car. I'm not sure if I'd completely go without, but it would be nice if such unforeseen problems that may or may not require a ride into town aren't as crippling.

That sucks. My last knee injury, complete ACL tear and major tear in the medial meniscus disc, both in my left knee, wasn't covered by insurance, but it wasn't denied. They just let the claim sit, approve an arthroscope, which two doctors had told me the damage was beyond just another scope, and just let it sit in limbo until I turned 26 and didn't have insurance anymore.

For the first time ever I tried a guava the other day. It smells weird and tastes a bit funny. Maybe I'd get used to it in time, but as long as I have other choices, I'll pass.

I have a small bottle that I keep filled with sea salt water to use when I have fresh piercings so I can clean them. Today, for some reason, I have taken to dripping varying amounts on my desk and watching them dry.

I love VA! I mean, I cannot watch movies with video only or audio only!
Did you know that "VA" stands for "vole arses"?
It's true!

I wonder if it would be an abuse of mod power to post in the "Last post is the winner" thread and then lock it.

I put a couple drops of a blue mio in a puddle of salt water, and apart from the pretty blue crystals left, the shape of the crystals are different than the non-colored puddles. Rather than looking like regular salt, these blue crystals formed into boxes and rectangles.

We received a 1/2" of ice overnight.
I've gone from having a 2-hour delay, to a 4-hour delay, to now having the day off.

People where i live were expecting an ice storm. The worst we got was some cold rain.

On the plus side, work was extremely easy yesterday.

I very stupidly lost my Android tablet a week ago. So I'm shopping right now for a new one. I had it registered so I could remotely lock/wipe it, but it's not been turned on for a week which means that it was either destroyed or was wiped when it was not connected wirelessly. Either way, key passwords have been changed and I need a tablet now.

I'm strongly considering the Nexus 9 since I dislike the bloatware and very slow updates from others who sell Android tablets.

Looking at pictures of Hawaii and thinking of my trips to San Diego, Santa Monica and Florida..... I got philosophical and started to wonder how different a person I might be if I had grown up in those locations as opposed to the Northeast.....

We were thinking about the girl who drank up all the water, ate up all the soap, and tried to eat the bathtub but it wouldn't go down her throat. We took to the doctor, we took her to the nurse, we took her to the lady with the alligator purse.
